ahthepowerofcheese Hand sewing will be the hard one, especially if you dont intend to buy the thread and faberic. Good luck with that one though. It takes a lot ot survive without anything, and it can be pretty deadly. If you get sick, no modern medicine, etc. Who said I wasn't going with out modren medicine (etc.)? Also it isn't too hard to survive without all that, you just need to learn how. Anyway, I think I'd enjoy a bit of risk. Can't wait to do those three day long rock climbs (although there is still that one question...). Hand sewing won't be hard, and who said I wasn't going to buy the stuff?

Hand sewing can be pretty tough; getting the proportions down correctly for cutting the fabric is aweful xd And being able to just do it well takes a bit of practice.

You said you were going to live like that. I assumed you meant permenantly, hermit style. If that was the case, I figured you'd want to get fairly away from civilization, so you're more in what nature was before man got to it. If you bring medicine, depending on the area and if you're going to be gone for a long while, pack some antivenom. A snakebite can be paralizing, or fatal, and wont give you much time to work with. Just a suggestion.
And hand sewing, even with bought stuff, is very difficult.

OH and if you dont have a pattern and are trying to make clothes? ahahah, have fun with that. then again, if you are buying stuff, you will pobably get a pattern too, right? keep the stitches small! ^-^

And hand sewing, even with bought stuff, is very difficult. Yea, well I have to get water purifiers some how, right? Not many snakebits are fatal and I do have a partner. Hand-sewing is not hard; I have done it.

...So have I. A LOT! I cosplay, so I cant use a pattern generally. You tell em that isnt hard, you're nuts. What kind of sewing have you done before?
And iodine works well for water, if you want to go old school.

Actually, I've only made a sling pack thingy (I still have that....still need to make the straps) and a shirt. We make our own Holloween costumes, and we decide to make the actually clothes too. I'm suppose to be Priestist or Cinel this year, but I can't afford the fabric to make the tunic. I always use the backstitch. None of them are perfectly inline, but they don't have to be to serve their purpose.
And too much iodine can kill someone.

hahaha true true. I mean like two drops of a diluted solution. My family still uses it when we back pack. A few drops is all you need to purify water, and it wont hurt you.

I've only ever sewn little doll clothes and pillows, though I did sew some things for a Halloween costume again.
It's been ages since I've sewn anything...

Hey, if people before us could learn to hand sew well, why can't we? I don't think it'll be that hard to make patterns. I think it'd be rather easy. But I've always been different like that.

It is already the eighteenth and I'm still only halfway done with cutting the fabric out for the tunic. If I don't get cloak done, I'm going to be cold on Holloween.
