No. Yes, I see the irony of me being on this site. rolleyes Just feels flat to me generally. I find it hard to look at. And truely (I'm going to get flamed for this bad sweatdrop ) most of it looks the same to me. Now if you want to tell me that I just need to give it a chance and then call me an idiot for generalizing do so now. *sigh*

I respect your opinion and all, really. But, take a look at Nodame Cantabile. Just... search it on google images. I swear, it's the most different drawings you'll ever see. So anyway, that aside, how does it look all the same to you?? Just curious. Some manga-ka *do* make the characters look all the same to me to, but some don't. So I'm just wondering. But whatever happens, I swear I won't flame you. *nodnod*

I think it's also the use of the emotion notations that bugs me. There's a lot of formula drawing going on. Obviously, there is some unique stuff, but the huge majority looks like a class assignment in sixth grade; that is, every one working off every one else's work and one kid copying straight out of the book. I can't put my finger on exactly why it feels this way. Obviously, I don't like looking at it too much so I don't know a huge amount about it. Just enough to say I dislike it strongly. After all, you don't need to eat say... my dad's pancakes all your life to know they taste like crap. I just read an awesome social comentary book called something like: Even a Monkey Can be a Manga Artist. It was pretty hilarious. Though... if you're under like, 15, skip chapters six and seven.
Thanks for respecting my opinion! I say again, I love this guild! 3nodding

hmmm.... my little babbling speach there didn't clarify anything. Ok, I'll try again. the way to draw anything (for instance, mouths) has become a cookie cutter science. And emotions, as said, are indicated by little symbols that, though they get the point across, really don't make me feel anything for the characters. And the characters also fit into certain invarying groups, my least favorite being "sexy-clumsy-heroic-love interest-girl". Grrrrrrr. The use of chibis also bugs me. Chibis unto themselves aren't so bad. But simply using them when the pannel is too small to deal with the real character seems to dumb and visually unpleasing. There. That makes more sense.
