now i love pirates as much as any one here but its just fact that ninjas would win.
first, ship battles
if a ninja would to ever go on water..(which they woudlnt but just in case) they would sail at night, and use camoflauge, such as lighting a fire with black smoke, and paint their sails and such black. making it hard to target and track. and during the day they would use blue sails and cover the ship in a blue tarp.
though pirates would have supeioir navigation skills, it would be useless wehn in battle.
second, guns, and cannons
the japanese use rockets more than cannons
yes they are less accruate .. but they dotn need to be. pirates mostly use cannons with solid projectiles. rockkets carry explosives inside them and would exploid on impact , also setting fire to a ship. and if they did miss, the rocket's blast radius is big enouhg to at least startle the enemy
third sword play,
pirates sword fighting is based on a frelance, dirty fenceing style, found mostly in the spanish badlands. ninjas are susually taught ninpo, the ninja arts, and speaicalists are sometimes taught other styles, now if it wasnt obvious that eastern melee was supiror to western , then lets break it down. western style is strictly about offense deffense. but eastern is about power distribution, endurance, conservation. eastern would le the westernstyle go on the offense and then use its power agaisnt them, waistign as little energy as possible inorder to last the enitre battle.
but in the end
pirates have more style, personality and are jsut over all COOOLER

a ninja would kill about 30 pirates in about ohhhhhh! 3.5 seconds or so......ha ha ha! there basically a shadow and you can't touch or hurt a shadow! so yah ninjas rule!

i know i'm in a pirate guild, but i'm not sure who would win. pirates are teh s**t, but so are ninjas (real ninjas--none of this naruto nonsense talk2hand ) i'd have to say it's much to close to call.

Each are good in their own way, but I think on the seas, pirates have a better chance than ninjas. 3nodding
