I was thinking the same thing. it does mention that he does not come from Konoha in the chuunin exam arc, when he's lumped together with people they say travel from different towns to take the exam. maybe he just visits over the holidays and spends the rest of his time in Konoha.

Alkia You guys raise a good point but then, why do these two who are bugging Kakashi look exactly like Lee!!

Those are both guys... and they try to impersinate(sp) Lee. Very funny episode... Everyone knows they're not lee exept Naruto >w<;;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Leewikipedia states that rock lee is a foreigner to konoha, but it also says it could mean that he could come from the slums or something my theory is that lee comes from china and somehow got to konoha; by himself for a portion of his life, gai became a father figure to him mrgreen

thats a filler when two guys dress up as lee and Gai to get some serect scroll there not ninja's and the one on the other side of Kakashi is fat really really fat its epsiode 161 if you want to watch it.....

I don't think Lee can come from China since China doesn't exist in the Narutoverse.
Also, traumatic childhoods seem to be a constant theme in Naruto. If you think about it, Lee has relativley few flashbacks compared to other characters. In just a short time we find out Naruto, Sasuke, and Gaara's entire life story. even minor characters like Kimimaro get flashbacks...but for Lee...only one or two....GASP, does this mean a Lee story arc is going to happen....SQUEEEEE........yeah, I better not get my hopes up crying
