NANA movie 2 has a different Shin! Kenichi Matsuyama has been replaced by Hongo Kanata.
Many news sources have noted that when the sequel for "NANA" was first announced, the production company had promised the return of the original cast. However, with an expected December 9th release for "NANA 2," three key members have already been changed.
Shin's character has a side which portrays him to be a defenseless teen coming from a troubled background. Although not a lot of focus was made on Shin in "NANA," producers are hoping to shed more light on him in "NANA 2." Because of this, they would like to stick as close as possible to the original character of Shin Okazaki. It has also come to the attention of the producers, that fans want Shin to look and act more like the original character in the manga.
Many fans are familiar with Hongo Kanata from his recent roles in "The Prince of Tennis," "Hinokio," and "Moon Child." Hongo Kanata was quoted saying, "I will do my best so that the original image of Shin will not be broken."

I'm very excited about Kanata-kun.... I think he's going to make a great Shin... I'm having difficulty repressing my fangirlish squeals... xp ( whee heart EXPLOSION)
I didn't see all of the first one... you see, I was stuck watching it on youtube, because I didn't have enough money to buy it crying I'll get it in a week or so, I hope...my connection sucks, so I didn't finish it... I don't even know if the whole thing's up there... hmph
I think that Mika makes a great Nana... from the part that I saw, anyway, her face and her voice fit my idea perfectly. And Other-Hiroki (my name for him, sorry, I can't change it) made a very entertaining Nobu too.

Lol, I guess Hongo Kanata-san needs to learn the bass guitar xd but it's so sad that they have to replace the 1st Hachiko ne? O ya, Click here for NANA 2 roadtour =D

When I watched the movie I was a little past the chapter that it ended on so I was like, " Oh, thats what they would look like!" and "Hey, that didn't happen!!" But I still loved the movie. It was so totally awesome. I might watch it again! ^^

yeah i know what you mean...
in the first movie Shin was just.... not Shin...
but i just noticed not too long ago when i was watching the first movie that Shin actually did have the Vivienne Westwood lighter necklace thingy
so that made me happy smile
But its saddening because i bought the first movie and the subtitles SUCK!!!
they like "stick" halfway thro the movie and so...
here i am... trying to watch a spectacular movie
but i have to keep rewinding at the right second in order to get the subs in the right place...
talk about A-GO-NY!

I love the first movie, I am currently downloading the second one. I know it's bad, but I can't find the movie Anywhere! Though I do plan on purchasing it when I do find it. The Nanas were excellent in that movie. They played their parts very well.

I liked both the first and second movie ... and all the actors, even tho some were replaced in the second movie. I don't know but the Nana (hachi) in the second movies was ... a little fake ... and the same goes for Ren, but Shin was played well by both actors! smile

I always pictured Nana O as arelatively cold person who only opens up when forced or when you've gained her trust/respect. Like in the first movie, she was less cold to Hachi after her betrayal by Shoji. Mika played her role fantastically, voice and everything. Aoi was a good cast for Hachi as well, cute, girly, peppy. Ren, however, I must agree with Hachi. He scares me. Shin was not anything I expected him to be, too cold and dark. I can't wait for the second movie with new casts.
