I just hate the fact that no one is influence by act of me being a vegetarian!! I don't eat any meat at all, no eggs, and no milk. Yet, my mom still goes to the grocery store to buy eggs, milk, and meat! So, I ask myself, "What's the point of trying to prove something, when my entire family is aginst it?? They don't even care about what I'm trying to prove, infact, they tease me!!" I happen to be a humble person, so I don't mind when people insult me or tease me, but I guess I'll just have to manipulate my family into becoming vegetarians...

It's great that your a vegetarian (me too), but you should do it for you (or the animals or for what ever reason your a vegetarian). You can not force others to feel the same way you do. You can't expect them to respect your decisions if you can't respect theirs. The best thing you can do is educate them with all the info that you think is important for them to know. Then let them decide how they feel about it. If they continue to eat meat, well it's beyond your control.

xoxdancexox Ciel Avec Cafeine To me, a person is spoiled if they have access to 100% vegan products. If you buy or can buy: vegan cheese, tofu dogs, vegan soap, vegan ANYTHING, then you have luxuries available to you. I'm lucky to find a boca burger in the grocery store; I'm even luckier if I can afford decent food. 52 Yet I'm spoiled, because I'm not vegan? Like hell I am. I don't believe that eating meat is wrong; I believe that the majority of meat eaten in society is unnecessary, however, and very unhealthy. That's why I'm vegetarian. But I have a VERY limited budget, and it's hard enough to get the right nutrients as a vegetarian. I could not be vegan, even if I wanted to. So no, I'm not going to starve myself or refuse to wash for the sake of a cow. Maybe you're luckier than I am, but I would be fired if I came into work after not showering for a month. Get a reality check. nice How is this nice? You can get vegan whatever you need for cheap. Vegan food (not processed s**t) is way cheap; ever looked at what beans, rice, and fresh fruits and veggies cost? B12 supplements, or whatever else you need, are also cheap, if you buy them from the right place. A gallon of Dr. Bronner's soap will cost you about $25-30 online, and you can use it for absolutely everything that needs washing in your house. This seems like laziness to me, rather than any real commitment to ethics.

Sometimes you're not in control of what food comes into the house you live in (if you're a minor, etc) and really, when it comes down to organic vs. non-organic, organic is more expensive. If you only ate beans, rice, and fresh fruit, you wouldn't have a lot of variety in your diet. Rice (mainly white rice) has almost no nutrients in it. A mixture of grains would do for your protein, but I'm not sure about your B vitamins. Being a veg*n (of any kind) takes time. You don't wake up one day and not eat anything with animal products and inorganic production. It just doesn't happen. Most people become vegetarian and then slowly work their way up to being vegan, if they choose to do so. Even though you can wake up and not eat meat, it still takes preparation. Humans, just like everything else that is alive, need an adjustment preiod. No one knows everything about how to live one way, except the way they live, and no one can repeat that.

One night back in December, my house caught on fire and the 6 of us had nowhere to stay that night, including nowhere to get food. My 3 brothers went to stay with a friend of the family, which left myself, my Dad and my step-mom with nowhere to eat or sleep.
I regret it now, but being in such a state of shock and upset, and having only been vegan for a month, my family went to Subway (it was the only place open at that time of night) and I ordered the VeggieDelite, knowing that it had egg protein as one of the minor ingredients in it.
It was a tough situation for me at the time, and looking back on it, I could've just not eaten but with the state I was in, I didn't consider this.
You live and you learn.

Ones I know. - Feeding a carnivore companion animal such as a cat meat. - Needing a job and the only/best employment is a place that you don't want to support ethically. - Medical issues. - Having to struggle against parents/guardians who don't want a child/teenager to be veg. For some people, they simply eat meat to keep the peace and bide their time.

I think you're being way too hard on yourself. Even if you wanted to be prepared with your own food, it was an emergency.

Newski Shiloh1991 Quote: Grow the ******** up. You made a mistake. We all do. Usually, when at family gatherings, there is a meat chili and a non meat. I was accidentally lead to the wrong chili. Took a bit, put it back. I'm not going to complain about it. Also, how can a house laugh at you? neutral I don't eat meat because I feel morally wrong doing so. So when I did I felt terrible. I don't understand why this bothers you so much.
sweatdrop This topic is called "Vegetarian/Vegan Dilemmas" So I just told a recent dilemma of mine... I don't expect sympathy and I certainly did not expect that.
stare I will edit my post....no a house can't laugh at meLook, Obviously I'm not a big fan of meat. But I don't see why you should compare accidentally eating meat to being raped? Alright, here's a topic that I will jump into. Eating meat to some can be like rape.
I'll explain. When I was younger, I used to cut myself. Why did I do that? It was my way of numbing myself to the world from a rape. Anyways, through years of therapy, I quit cutting. The blood from meat, reminds me of my blood. It is triggering for me.
That wasn't the reason I stopped eating meat though, but it does help me not eat it.
The reason why I went vegetarian, was of my philosophy: I don't believe that I am a "soul taker", and have a right to take another animals life.
The rapist tried to break me, take my soul. Ruin me. It is mans cruelty on man. I have a conscious decision NOT to be cruel to my fellow creatures. I don't eat the animal, because I am not the one to decide their last breath. I am not placed here on Earth to be cruel.
No blood, mine or theirs need be shed.
Anyways, when someone tricks me to eat meat, it is like being raped. The tricksters who think it is funny are being cruel and controlling, thinking that their deed is actually benefiting the victim. It is about control.
And the blood, the smell, the look, takes me back to my SI days, and the feelings that come up from not being numb anymore.
So for me, quite literally, being a jerk, and putting meat in my food, is quite a shitty idea.
That's my two-cents. If you want the nutshell concept. You control your world. The trickster takes away your control. You feel hurt. Untrusting. You want your control back, but it is hard to get. Mixed feelings of what happened.
Sounds like rape to me.

They're annoying as hell and I refuse to associate with them. I'm vegetarian, my sister is vegetarian, our mother is not. Do I harass her for it? No. I know how annoying it is to be harassed for the way I eat and I am not going to pass it on. Who else is sick of hearing meat eaters redefining PETA as "People Eating Tasty Animals"? My dilemma: I just checked the ingredients of my favorite soap and the first ingredient is tallow. gonk This bothers me although I'm not vegan/strict vegetarian. I do have some stuff with animals products, like I have a winter coat that's mostly down. Knowing there's beef fat in my soap is a little distressing though. But I love my soap so much. crying
