xmajarax will sandlewood and peppermint help with creativity because some one i know sead it dose? 4laugh Hm... I personally believe that the oils that smell best to you are the ones to inspire. And I know sandalwood is considered an aphrodisiac, and peppermint is awakening and refreshing, which is good for the mind.

But I guess it depends on the state of mind that you work best in. If you work better under pressure, I would say try citrus scents; for relaxed, try sandalwood and lavender. It's really a hit oir miss kind of thing, creativity. That's why it's so fleeting in the first place. lol

jellysundae Well well, i'm participating in a winter holiday exchange in another guild and i'm really liking the idea of making candles for everyone! I see your point with the moulds, but putting them into jars would up the postage costs horribly sweatdrop the last exchange i did the postage cost me over £100 stressed BUT what about those silicone baking pans that you can get? These for example:~ Mini muffin trayor these:~ Silicone baking moulds The heart shaped ones really appeal xd Yeah, I could see those working. You could even use a regular muffin pan and set it in some hot water to help coax the candles out. Kinda like flan or custard. You know?

Since I told Kyoki this recipe that I found for a lotion base, I'm going to repost it there for anyoine who wants it. Basic Lotion RecipeFirst of all, you may want to select containers with colored caps that remind you of the scent you made. Wal-Mart carries empty Pet Bottle with different colored caps in their beauty and travel section. So, I would pick a clear bottle with a purple cap for lavender, as one example. Heat up 3/4 Cup of Oil of Your Choice in the microwave with 2 teaspoons of Steric Acid and 1 teaspoon of Emulsifying Wax until melted. In a separate plastic bowl with a pour mouth preferably, heat up 1/2 cup of water of your choice (such as rainwater) in the microwave with a 1/2 teaspoon of Borax (the Mule Team stuff) until boiling hot. Then use the same plastic pour mouth bowl you boiled the water in and slowly whip in the oil mixture with a hand blender. Keep mixing until fairly cool. At this time, you can add vitamin e oil, a little color, fragrance, whatever you consider great stuff! When the lotion seems well mixed, funnel into pretty plastic lotion bottles. If you are going to take longer than a month to use this, I recommend putting a touch of Germaben II to body products; they will tend to form black little microbes after a few months. Vitamin e is a natural preservative and may help. Variations:Once you get the chemistry down, the interplay is wide open. You can use green tea instead of water or rainwater, or water infused with whatever herb you like. On the oil side, you can soak the oils in elements such as we do with bee pollen, strain and then use for the oil part. The possibilities are endless and these variations also apply to Cremes below. For those with Eczema or Psoriasis, adding 10% of pine tar at the mixing stage may help them tremendously. In that case, I would use Castor oil as my oil of choice. You can offset the smell of pine tar with cinnamon or nutmeg. And this website is: Stretcher.com~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now, I don't personally know of anywhere that you can get straight Steric Acid, but I did find a supply website that has something that can be substitued for the Steric acid and borax mixture, and just about everything else that this recipe calls for. Our family just pulled names for christmas gifts, and my husband got our sister in law Robin who just recently had a baby, point to all that is. I'm going to make a (only slightly) huge batch of sugar scrub for her. The jars I use would cost over $100 to buy the amount of sugar scrub pre-made. Anywho! I was wonder what would be the best scents for relaxation and feeling pampered? I was thinking maybe chamomile(did I spell that right?) and lavander, but not fully sure. What are some ideas you can offer? And if you want the recipe I'll be happy to share!

see if you can find out her favourite scents first. many people don't like the smell of lavender. if she does like it, blending it with ylangylang is VERY relaxing, as in send you straight to sleep xd
rose and lemon is an unlikely but delicious combination. rose and lavender, a classic mix. vanilla and sandalwood. jasmine and use green tea instead of water in the ingredients.
geranium oil might be good too, that's reminiscent of rose, but not as cloying 3nodding

I'll make a note of them for future scrubs. I asked my other sister in law what robin likes and she said pretty much anything vanilla. 3nodding and that Robin had mentioned really likeing the soap in her guest bathroom that is a vanilla mint. So I think that will be what I go with. biggrin

Not chamomile. It's a wonderfully relaxing tea, but it smells... >> Bad. I have chamomile soap and.... *shakes her head* Ickie.
Mint-vanilla does sound delicious! Especially since vanilla smells like cupcakes... so she'd smell like mint-cakes!

Every time I wash my hands with the nilla-mint soap at my sisters I can't stop smelling my hands xd I think I will be making a batch on vanilla-mintyness for myself too.

when it's blended with lavender it smells delightful, i'm often suprised when i try new products from Lush, some of their blends sound perculiar, but usually turn out to be delicious. the last package i received from them had a free bath ballistic in it, Black Pearl it's called, and it's not one i'd ever have tried of my own free will, the fragrance is lavender and blackcurrant. my initial response when i saw it in the box was one of dismay but it turned out to be totally divine! the scent was blended perfectly and fragranced my bathroom for 3 days!! the bath water turned an alarming shade of black though, leaving the tub looking like i'd just come out of a coal mine lol but it washed away easily 3nodding
anyone else got any experiences like that?
i know i've seen some frangrance blends that i've avoided for years thinking they would be vile, only to discover they're actually lovely, the lavender, ylangylang, patchouli mix for example, as i detest the smell of patchouli rolleyes

For me I buy lotions and sops I think will smell so yummy and end up making me gag. xd The coconut lime verbena from bath and body works is one that I did that with. I went in to buy some of their creamy coconut to find out they discontinued it. crying They replaced it with the coconut lime. The sample in the store smelled pretty good so I went on and bought a bottle only to find out it really stinks. Though their vanilla bean noel is very yummy. Whenever I use it my Hubby says I smell like a fresh baked sugar cookie. xd

Wow, this thread has become popular! Sorry I haven't been around.
In any case! Camomile and lavender as a blend is actually one of the most generic relaxation scents out there. Now, it's true that chamomile by itself is a little more harsh of a scent. That's why something else that more flowery is added to take the edge off. All in all, I would highly recommend this combination as a relaxation scent if she doesn't already have one. I'm sure that you could find out if she has a personal favorite. Everyone does. For example, my favorite relaxation scent is baby powder. But if you can't find that out, then camomile and lavender is a good, safe alternative.
I hope that helps!
