agrab0ekim Lupin The Great agrab0ekim Lupin The Great agrab0ekim Lupin The Great And who would these piss poor troops be, and the day that the UN dare show itself in my city is the day I'll kill someone. Why... why do you not like the UN... the UN is something that has kept us out of more WWs... it is something quite useful Useful? Dude they are the most corrupt and most powerless legislative body in all of the land. They make watergate look like a J-walking, their "peacekeeping" troops are poorly trained, their sanctions don't do anything, they try to appease terrorism, and the list goes on... And you think they've kept us out of war? That is the dumbest thing I've heard in days, we're in a ******** war as it is that. We've increased in Operational Wars since 1980, and yet the UN has not stopped us from going have they? First, we are not at war. We have not been at war from ww2 to the present. That is why i am saying give the UN teeth. If we give them a little more troops that are good, they can enforce the statutes. And they do enforce them... They got IRAQ to stop making WMDs Yeah we have Korea, Vietnam, and Gulf War 1. Not to mention the Operational Wars such as Operation Eagle Claw, Operation Urgent Fury, Operation Just Cause, Operation Restore Hope, and so on. After WW2, there were no wars... You are refering to peace keeping missions or UN approved ones (GW1 was a un approved)... Uh you're sorely confused the UN never aided us during vietnam nor any of the operational wars I mention besides Operation Restoring Hope.

I have NO idea how the UN is going to actually make peace in Lebanon. I mean, what are they going to do? Send in troops and add even more fighting and bloodshed? Demand the freedom of the hostages? Demand them to stop fighting? I don't see what they are going to be able to do that will actually work. neutral

I'm not a big Israel fanatic normally, and what they're doing is incredibly overly reactionary. But Lebanon was still the instigator, here.

Although it is very much a he-said she-said with Israel claiming they were in Israel, and Lebanon claiming they were in Lebanon. How about sanctioning them both until they stop acting like such children? >.< Page-stretching LinkFound this, posted a few hours ago, thought it was interesting. The UN is finding it difficult to remove those 350 Lebanese hostages from Israel. Wouldn't it be easier to try to release those 2 Israeli hostages from Lebanon first, in order to facilitate a trade, as was Hezbollah's alleged intent in the first place?

It is Isreal's fault for sending them there

Lupin The Great agrab0ekim Lupin The Great Has the UN not learned it's lesson form Somalia or Bosnia? No matter the past results, the UNs job is to be there to attempt to make it better Dude, are listending to yourslef? You want the United Nations to handle something that they were assigned more than 20 years ago and they ******** that up. Now you want UN Peacekeepers to police a volitile situation, please tell me you just want to see Bloody blue helmets in the streets, or even a few Pakistani Armored Personel Carriers with blast holes in them. Because that's basically what you're going to see. Please the job of the peackeeprs then was as observers not as a disarming force. This time we can make them as such, say, yes you can disarm them by force if you need to.

Omnileech With Israel occupying Lebanon for up until a few years ago and you wonder why things don't get done? Or how about because members of the UN set the organization up to fail. If states like the U.S. actually wanted the UN to succeed it would. No, no it wouldn’t it would still fail, because countries with populations less then New Jersey, ruled by tyrants outnumber the democracies in the UN and cancel out almost any good it could do. Not to mention that when they do do things they continually screw up. They are too concerned about the feelings and images of other countries to do anything. The way they are set up is what is causing them to fail, the US is willing to try, but most other countries aren’t. for example the terrorism sub-committee, only had 70 countries send in their information to them. 70 out of all the UN countries only 70 replied. And almost none follow their guidelines.

And we did declare war, in a round about way, in Iraq.

agrab0ekim First, we are not at war. We have not been at war from ww2 to the present. That is why i am saying give the UN teeth. If we give them a little more troops that are good, they can enforce the statutes. And they do enforce them... They got IRAQ to stop making WMDs Look back at your constitutional history and you will find that the president can declare an ongoing war against an indeterminate enemy, and the Supreme Court has said as much. For Proof check out Thomas Jefferson and what he did against the Barbary Pirates. And you may also want to note the humongous, colossal, failures of the UN. The UN wasn’t sure they got Iraq to do anything. Hans Blix himself said as much. They said that the only way we would know is when the Americans are knocking down the doors to check. Everyone, including France believed as such and said so publicly before military action was brought. And even if and when they are given troops the chain of command is so piece of s**t that its not funny and almost nothing can be done. we have a hard enough time within nato.
