I'm bored as hell, and noone else is posting, so i took time to put up a couple of pieces. Here's the links, but remember, they will only be available for about 5 more days, just because of how yousendit works:

http://www.yousendit.com/download/OUn1fAhRYZc=
http://www.yousendit.com/download/OUnKxYZTYZc=

As it will be obvious after listening to them, I have a bad habbit of doubling up on frets on accident, and even hitting the wrong string sometimes... any recommendations on that?

You played that? That's pretty impressive.

I have the same issue. I guess everyone does. It's just the whole corny line of "practice makes perfect."

On that note, tomorrow for my public speaking class I'm going to teach the class the basics of guitar and how to read tabs, and then play a mini Zakk Wylde solo. (chose him because he incorporates a lot of different techniques in a solo, and he has a tendency to do really long solos.)

NERVOUS. gonk

Good luck with your class! Zakk's good, so if you've practiced that solo you're going for, I'm sure you'll be fine wink

...and thanks for the compliment, but my friends who got me into guitar are still WAY better thaan me emo

Haha yeah I'm taking lessons at school. The guy taught a couple of fairly famous guitarists- he's pretty ******** awesome.

But still, it was still one of Zakk's simpler solos. And it took me a long time to get it down.

Nah, not really. The only friends I'm better at it are only because they don't play xp ... one plays drums and bass, the other does bass and vocals sad

one of the first things i learned how to play is the intro to "one" by metallica... learning on electric can be really frustrating when you first try to play acoustic.. i'd recommend more than anything learning on an acousic or acoustic/electric... but it definitely helps having the guitar in plain sight as far as practicing.

yea. I tried playing my friends acustic guitar and it was way harder because the strings are further apart and it has a different feel. I tuned it for her tho cuz it was bugging the s**t out of me that it wasn't in tune..... thats the only thing I can do with an acustic. I was learning enter sandman on my guitar but then I moved my guitar to the basement and then I kinda forgot about it. I moved it back up to my room but now I feel like I suck even though I havent played for like half a year. Everything in music has been going downhill for me lately. I guess I should take a break and catch my breath and then try again. I dunno.... I used to be pretty good at playing my flute and ever since I got braces, its been different. and now I have to kind of re-learn all the different chords on my guitar. I ******** hate this. Its pissing me off 'cause music is my thing and I am really sucking at it right now. sorry guys. I didnt mean to change the subject or rant on and on about my ******** problems. Too much s**t going on right noe and I cant get it all straight

Well i would say don't take any breaks. Keep at it til you die. Thats what's great about music, you can take it anywhere, and you can do so many things with it. You'll only get better with practice, so if you have to make up for what you've forgotten, then that's what ya gotta do =/

I'll be in the same boat once i get a new guitar. The one I learned and played on wasn't mine, and it's been half a year since I played >

yea. I dont think I'm gonna take any breaks. I was just so ******** frusterated and pissed off yesterday. Good luck w/ your new guitar. I seriously need to practice mine and I got through the basics books I have all last night cuz I remembered everything. I just need to remember some more chords. And also print out some tabs. I wish they had a printer friendly version because I always have to put them into word to fix it so It looks normal when i print it out. my computer (and the rest of the computers in general) like to shift text around when printing

I don't know, but all of the Gibsons I've played are great. Les Paul would definitely be a good choice.

I also strongly recommend a Fender Stratocaster to anyone who asks. It's what I play- it's affordable, stays in tune pretty well, has a clear sound, and is just overall a comfortable guitar to play. biggrin
