Well said.Mukuro is an awesome character, and while I hate the thought of her with Hiei,I must admit that I'd want her with him more than anyone else.

Besides, she may not be the prettiest, but she isn't ugly either. She's pretty kickass too.Who else do we know that's beaten Hiei? I also think, with the exception of Genkai, she might be one of the wisest girls on the show too.

What she said... sweatdrop

Personally I don't like Makuro, most of the reason's why were already named.

I didn't before...

I may have mentioned this, but as long as I think of her as not being with Hiei, I can deal with her.

But, I wish there had been more time to see her character grow.

I used to hate her, but today I rewatched the episode about Hiei's past, and Hiei's fight with her, and I don't know, but that became my favorite non-yaoi pair in yyh. I mean I think she is right for Hiei. They are so much alike, and they do seem to care about each other.
Plus before I saw her as annoying, but now that I think about it, she is smart, and she's pretty and strong, so I think that she's the best female character from yyh. So...Go Mukuro, you rock!!!

Even if I were to see her character grow more into the series, I dont really think I would have ended up liking her. I meen she is a kick a** fighter but theres just something about her that seems blah.

Hiei and Mukuro, as a couple, would never work, it’s as cut and dry as that.
….Unless Togashi decides to build on Mukuro’s character in the same direction he was headed while in the Three Kings Saga, there by adding to his rat's-nest of plot holes and “…Wtmf? That’s impossible! D:<” he’s created from his own damned biases.
Honesty, would it have killed him to have done a little research outside of Japanese folklore…?

Sure thing.

Alright, where to begin….
I suppose the first fault to address is Mukuro’s morality itself. You see, if she was born into slavery and new nothing but it, how would she know of freedom or the good it possesses? Did she have contact with out side sources, such as other slaves? Even so, she was a child who grew up knowing nothing but her chains, she wouldn’t have a sense of what was right or wrong; if whether what was being done to her was right or wrong. She would just exist, a man would come and do things to her on occasion, and that was it. She would sit in her cage with that one window; listening to the whispers of those who had lived outside her world with out being able to grasp the concepts of which they spoke.

One may argue that she learned of freedom, and somehow wanted it, as if a primal will to be in control compelled her. For that rebuttal, we must look to what Mukuro is.
Not of how she is a Lord, not of how she is a demon, not even of how she is a woman; but the most obvious yet most misunderstood factor of her:
Mukuro is, above all else, a rape victim.
Rape victims experience a variety of disorders, such as the following: life-long depression, D.I.D., self injury, self-mutilation, Borderline Personality Disorder, Anti-Social Personality Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, flashbacks, psychotic breaks with reality, alcoholism, substance abuse, promiscuity, celibacy, prostitution, an inability to form intimate relationships, self-hate, guilt, anger (which is often directed inwards as well as outwards), emotional hypersensitivity, defensiveness, a lifelong inability to trust others, emotional numbness, an attraction to partners who are dominant and/or abusive, and general mental deterioration including loss of IQ. I know this is a tough concept to grasp, but rape as a rape victim you just can’t wake up out of all that and one day decide to run away. She just wouldn’t know; too mentally unstable to do much of anything. She wouldn’t have any fight, she wouldn’t resist; she wouldn’t know to.
True, it’s natural for one’s body to reject rape, but that’s just why she wouldn’t be able to escape. She’d hate herself, she’d be confused, she’d become attached to her “father”.
She just couldn’t do it people, not in the way Togashi suggested; that she just ran off because she hated the world. The mind doesn’t work that way.

Now let’s say that SOMEHOW she did manage to be pulled from her life acceptance of insanity and depression, was SOMEHOW mentally stable enough to know how to survive in the demonic society, and could SOMEHOW do anything more than drift across the new found world; let’s say she met Hiei. Yeah. Sorry to say, but they’re demons. Demons. I hypothesize that a good majority of them had lives very similar, hardship wise, to both Hiei and Mukuro. So why Hiei? Why? Think back to the disorders; sure she’s had around 1000 years to make peace with herself, but obviously, judging by the condition she was in when Hiei fist encountered her, she hadn’t; nor should she have been able to. So, why did she trust this demon? Yes, I know, because Hiei is like that. But that doesn’t mean they could ever form a relationship of a romantic manor.
In fact, I do believe Mukuro loves Hiei, but mainly because she can. She could hold him and know that, or believe that, he would never love her back. He was safe, is safe, safe for her to love and not infect: It’s what rape and abuse victim long for. An abusive relationship. Rejection. “No”.
True, it is very possible that Hiei, in turn, could form such emotions for Mukuro. But is that what Mukuro wants? A loving….Creature? No. No. That wouldn’t do at all. She loves Hiei for his scares, if she healed them all the way, then he wouldn’t be safe anymore. This is apparent when Hiei shows blatant concern [“concern” in his own way. You know the one.] and Mukuro in turn, attacks him. He went too deep. Asked too much. She wasn’t willing to have him cross that line.
….But I’ve strayed into rant-ism. My apologies.

In short, Mukuro wouldn’t form that type of relationship, due to her being a rape victim [refer to the psychological effects previously listed]. You could stretch even this while overlooking her inability to escape in the first place, I suppose, but we’re not done, yet. ;P

I’d like to break now for a little announcement:
RAPE VICTIS DO NOT WANT TO EVER COME IN CONTACT WITH THEY’RE RAPISTS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN SEPERATED [unless for sexual-abuse addiction purposes], NOT EVEN FOR THE PERPOUS OF SELF MUTILATION. Think about it. Such a thing could set one so far back through the stages of grief, depression, the road to sanity, that they could in fact be reduced to the mental state previously exhibited during the time/aftermath of the rape. Hiei bringing Mukuro her father, even for torture, would not bring her pleasure. Most likely, she would still be emotionally attached in some ways to him [this she may not be aware/come to grips with yet.], she would experience brutal flashbacks that would lead her past the point of pleasurable mastication into the “dream-like”/”surreal”/”blank” sate used to describe rape victim’s emotional disorientation, and she would plummet into deeper emotional isolation/depression.
A happy ******** birthday indeed.

Right, well, now that that’s out of the way, I’ll be concluding this third-rate excuse for drabble with Mukuro’s exact purpose in the show. She was, in fact, introduced into the series to suggest that Hiei was straight. You see, Togashi knew he made Hiei and Kurama the perfect couple due to his lack of experience; and he was just fine with that. But that isn’t his style, Togashi enjoys leaving it up to the fans to decide the who likes whom. So he created Mukuro so people would question Hiei’s sexuality rather then have a set pair within the four main character [a recipe for disaster within TV series; it makes the plot stoic and excludes the characters; unless a major death/break-up occurs between the couple (ex: Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, with the boy friends gone “abroad”). Yes, this did matter because Togashi was planning on continuing the series up until the point he was forced to shut down the YYH project.]. However, his philosophy expressed no leniency on the Hiei/Mukuro relationship either. This lack of intention is what leads me to the conclusion that Togashi simply threw together a depressing little bio for Mukuro devoid of proper research and consideration.

…And so ends my elaboration.
Please forgive my poor execution; I could even feel the level of my writing going down hill as I typed…Only two pages... sweatdrop
I’m still fatigued from Star testing….
But enough of my excuses;
feel free to b***h me out about this.
Luff meh some debate. >;3
And I'm sorry about the wall of text! xd

Wow, you've thought this out then. And it does make sense the way you're saying it.

I hadn't thought about any of that, but it gives me something to think about.

Oh, I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to be vague.
If you don't mind telling me at what point I was unclear, I can reword it for you, if you'd like.

I'm just a little surprised you thought this out so well.

I don't mind Mukuro. She's an okay character, but really, I couldn't see her with Hiei. o-o
I don't really support any Hiei pairings 'cause I haven't seen anyone in YYH that fits with him, but I definitly prefer the HieixKurama pairing over HieixMukuro.
But after all this time of watching YYH, I just coulding seem to bring myself to like Mukuro. I couldn't like her as a character is because she's bland just as Autmn Lullaby said. o-o

Also, I completely agree with Hemmka. (Your post was amazing, by the way. xD)
She seems like a character that was thrown in there just to keep from having a set pairing for Hiei. o-o

Wow, I feel bad, it's been such a long time since I posted. redface

I was watching one of my YYH DVDs and I still can't find anything attractive about Mukuro. I agree that she was simply put in to just prevent a set pairing for Hiei. She's such a badly created, static character with no development, that I don't see what other reason for her there would be. She's just too random, the whole Three Kings Saga was for me. I mean, she appeared way too suddenly for only a brief amount of time, yet she's supposed to be this extremely powerful and very important figure in Makai. I simply can't accept a character like that, especially when it's during the last saga of the series.
