I believe you are right as well...though I have to wonder: What about those that just seemed to be a bad seed? True, I take a more sociological approach than I should to psychology...but I'm just curious as to whether anyone else thinks that a person that's a "bad seed" is possible.

I was going to try and reply right off the cuff, but I realized I'd need more of an understanding as to what you're inferring by 'bad seed'.

IQ lower than 80?
Parents who at best are classified as 'dumb'?
Emotionally scared past?

I'm curious now blaugh

Well,I always thought of a "bad seed" as someone who was truly mean...no remorse for their actions or anything.
Honestly something in a "bad seed" I think is just triggered naturally by some force of event or something to that nature, that just envokes their aggressive behavior. But yet again no sure fire reason as to what.

In nature, it's common for animals to inherit their parent's disposition (see domestication of wild animals). And sometimes, there is an animal that is unusually aggressive.

You can't do much to influence human sentience, and we come in all shapes and dispositions of attitude / personalities. If a bad seed was triggered through an even in their life, then I'd simply attribute them under what I said prior concerning cruelty.

Maybe it's a level of delusion. I know at least in my family, on my father's side especially, there is rampant drug and alcohol abuse, with a few suicides and attempted suicides. So if depression and self loathing can be inherited even when the parents do not exhibit any signs or history there of, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to find some people with a natural inclination for malice.

For the bad seed, cruelty a perpetual state.

(Bah, I tried, didn't work out that well)

You explained it wonderfully!
That's the point I was trying to get at but I failed miserably heh heh sweatdrop But I've basiclly observed this kind of behavior in people at school and in public (it's amazing what you observe for 2 hours on a bench in the middle of the mall xd )

I'm terribly sorry...I forgot to elaborate.

But I do agree...you've posed a point. mrgreen

I think that 80% of the ''cruel'' people are just acting that way to feel better about themselves, they sometimes also want to be part of a group or be socially accepted.
This is just something that society brings us, we want to get higher and better and sometimes people are being mean to reach that.

I'm very interested in where you found the ratio of 80%.

And then there's the questions:
Why would someone think that being cruel would make them feel better?
Is it that they think mean = happy?
Where did they draw this conclusion?
Is it innate?
How is it that there are groups of people who you can appeal and find acceptance into by demonstrating cruelty?
Have all these people in the group had similar life experiences conditioning them to think this way?
If they are banding together with likeminded people, could this be an indication that their conviction is not as strong, because they need others agreeing with them to feel comfortable with it?
Are these groups a demonstration of human's social nature?
Or are the groups just the presence of fear, and people using a clan mentality to have a limited view of reality through consensus?

I'd be really interested in hearing other people try to answer these before I throw in my pile of 2c words.
