"So Bob, what were you before you were born?"
"A fetus."
"No Bob, what kinda fetus? Would you say a fox fetus? Perhaps a cat?"
"Uh, no. I was human."
"Exactly."
lol. sorry I misinterpreted. I loved the prenatal story. except the whole dying thing. that wasn't so nice.

Quote:
First Frame: "Everytime you say something stupid..."
Second Frame: "A baby dies."
Third Frame: "That's why..."
Fourth Frame: "Abortion is widely legal." (Quickly switch to)
Fifth frame: "Fight stupidity. Fight abortion."

I'm just trying to think of background images to put on it.
It makes a good point. no idea on background images. It's very easy to parody and make fun of though. If your goal is to get more people to your cause, you could have it link to a thread in the guild outlining why abortion is stupid and then at the bottom a link to join the guild. You know, like, sorta an info sheet...kinda...I'm bad at explaining myself. But then it also spreads information about the cause of the guild, not just the info that it's here. IT sorta says why we believe this is stupid, so people who're sorta on the fence who read it don't pass us off as bible huggers. eh, I give up trying to explain me, it's impossible, but I think it's a good idea for a banner at any rate.

xd It's not an arguement though. It's the truth. The reason abortion is legal right now is because the fetus isn't considered a person by law so forcing the mother to continue pregnancy is inflicting on her human rights.

Now if we could prove a fetus is a human, than the fetus' right to life would override the woman's right to comfort/abortion. Which is easier said than done.

But it already is a human, it's multicelluar with 46 (or was it 26, damn biology!) chromozones, now it's just a matter of personhood...

which you cannot prove so why is abortion legal anyway?

Yeah, the prenatal story is really beautiful. I do wish that the baby didn't have to die though. crying That's sad. But then again, it was one of the -extremely- rare occasions where the mother would have died, wasn't it?

You think so? Hm. But then again, the person reading it would have to have the opinion that the world is full of stupid people these days, which I'm certain some will disagree with. whee

True. But then, if you think that art is a reflection on society and television shows are a form of art, anyone who watches tv will think the world is full of stupid people.

Yeah, yeah, lost cause I'm fighting, I know.

Yeah, when the mother is gonna die and it's high risk like that, I think abortion is fine. But abortion in that case has always been legal, so that's a moot point in regards to Roe v. Wade (I can't spell probably).

I think it's 46.... 23 pairs, I believe. I don't remember. Biology was a class I failed long ago.

13? maybe....and maybe it made up 26, that makes sense....I don't remember. I just remember cutting out a bunch of little pieces of paper and trying to match them to eachother. I remember an extra x or y means down syndrome.

Nope, here we go. http://www.accessexcellence.org/RC/VL/GG/human.html

Personhood is defined by a person, so no you can't prove it. A member of the KKK would claim a black human isn't a person; simply because we can't prove that a black person is a person (Because once again it's simply a definition. It can be changed by anyone to suit their needs.) should we take away their rights? What about women's rights? We can't prove women are persons.

It's flawed logic that they have, created by the overwhelming need in today's society for self gratification.

Very hard to prove indeed....even though....

Quote:
per·son·hood [ púrs’n hd ]

noun

human state: the state of being human

If a fetus is proven to be a living human, it is therefore a person by definition. That's why it's not enough to say it has Human DNA, because a mere flake of skin has human DNA, with all those little chromosomes in them and all that. If it can be proven that a fetus is a living human being, not a living lump of DNA, a living human being, the fetus must therefore be a person. That comes back to another definition...

Quote:
hu·man be·ing (plural hu·man be·ings)

noun

1. member of the human species: a member of the species to which men and women belong. Latin name Homo sapiens.

2. person: a person, viewed especially as having imperfections and weaknesses

if the first part of that definition can be proven, the second part can too. These definitions are a bit vague for my taste. It leaves people to nitpick over what makes someone a member of the human species. If number one of the second definition can be proven, personhood is established and fetuses are protected by law of human rights, not of citizen rights....but human rights.

And to edit in a round up to my post of definitions, my favorite I've found so far on MSN encarta,

Quote:
fe·tus [ ftəss ] (plural fe·tus·es) or foe·tus [ ftəss ] (plural foe·tus·es)

noun

unborn offspring: an unborn vertebrate at a stage when all the structural features of the adult are recognizable, especially an unborn human offspring after eight weeks of development

unborn offspring. Not parasite. not growth. offspring. meaning it is the unborn "descendant of people, animals, or sometimes plants" Meaning that it is already "a person, animal, or plant related to one that lived in the past," the past being the mother, and since the mother is human being, a person, and not a plant, it stands to reason that her offspring are human beings and also not plants. well that was irrelevant, but it follows that her offspring are human beings as well and since being a living human makes you a person, fetuses are persons with the same human rights as the rest of humanity and though the offspring remains inside the womb, it is still offspring and therefore still a human being.

Wish it were as easy as that. Erm....well, maybe it's as easy as it is to FOLLOW what I just said in my confused way. sweatdrop
