I think he's a "he" as well. Plus, Zidane (the ladies-man) asks him what girls he likes etc. I don't think he would ask a girl! O__o;; "Hi Dagger what girls do you like??" Personality wise, Vivi's a very shy (and cute) kid, that doesn't determine his gender either. But then again, black mages could be genderless as well! Either way all of them look "male". First off, great comeback! (*gets mauled by fangirls*) rofl Second, just for arguments sake, you never really see Vivi...you see 'cute' clothes and "cute" personality, but you never see anything more of Vivi then his eyes and the could of mist that he is...*gets mauled by fangirls* Next, again with the clothes, all black mage's clothes look male... Just a sidenote; could Vivi represent all of the teenagers in the world that try to fit in? I mean, look, he's shy around people, people only see his cute clothes, and he is in a constant battle (literally and metaphorically). Well, I'm pleased at the responses that you guys have given so far...YAY YOU GUYS!!!! blaugh xd dramallama heh, I'm a fan of that certain male I was referring too, but denying it would be foolish XD *gets mauled again* OK, the clothes look male, but clothing determines the way someone looks razz but anyway, I assume you got my point. The way I view it, Vivi got through a little identity crisis (sp?). I suppose his quote says a lot about that. It must be hard though, finding out you've been manufactured and all...and people were scolding him and all (especially the Burmecians and Cleyra).

But luckily Vivi found out it didn't matter and that...uh oh...would that be a spoiler... ninja
And if Vivi's gender was undeterminable they would have done what they did for Quina. They always put s/he when refering to her cause they couldn't tell the gender. They knew Vivi was a he.

I prefer to stick to the facts..... no matter what gender Vivi was made to look like... Vivi was still made and is therefore an it. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. To sum up..... for those of you with shorter attention spans than even I;
Vivi was an it, the third gender.

I dress like that, but a little more...fem...see, I feel that the world today has too strict of lines between everything...you're stereotyped all the time, and always judged about your actions, physical features, clothing, stuff...I just really discourage that kinda thing, so I'm putting into personal action a movement against the "free" world...yeah, I would tell more of myself, but that is way off topic, and I have to go....so...yeah, it's been a fun conversation! Oh, and the ID crisis, that's exactly what I wanted to hear! xd

Schmoe407145 Okay, throughout the game when I was playing, I always assumed that Vivi was, in fact, male...but after I heard a few things, I've started to quetion myself...okay guys, what do you think based upon his/her character, NOT upon how others in the game refer to him/her..."Vivi? HE went.." no, none of those pronouns...Okay, GO! I still say Vivi is a guy but he may have some girly traits.... sweatdrop

I forget the name of it... so I'd disagree with your points since they are in fact properly created life forms and Vivi was not.

No way, Vivi is definately a guy. Like everyone's been saying there's that scene in Madain Sari. Also if any of you have played Final Fantasy Tactics you see that when you change them into mages that the guys look like Vivi. The girls look different from the guys.
