Ashlin shrugged, then followed Sparrow up out of the cargo hold.
"At'll work, too."
The fresh air was a marvoulus treat after days in a barrel.

Jack waved a hand toward the helm, "Mister Gibbs! We've aquired a new member to tha crew." the captain spoke with a smile. "I've made 'im tha new cabin boy. Found 'im in a barrel of rum." Jack walked toward his cabin, one hand clutching his rum bottle.
"We be needin' a headin', cap'n." Gibbs spoke.
Jack sighed, all movement haulting, his arms akimbo in the air, as he swirled toward the first mate. "Upstream." he said with a smile.
Gibbs paled slightly, "Aye."
(((OOC: Gibbs is not taken. But we kinda need him so anyone can play him until he's claimed.)))

"What's upstream?" Ashlin asked curiously. Apparently something dangerous, judging by Gibbs' reaction.

"That..." Jack replied, taking a swig of the rum first, allowing the tension to build. "Means we're goin' inland." he replied with a smirk.
Gibbs sighed, "Hope ye don't fear swamps, lad."

Ashlin raised an eyebrow at the captain's not-so specific response. Gibbs, at least, was more helpful.
"Nah, swamps ain't too bad. Not a place ta build a summer home, but ain't a place 'ta get scared of."

Jack heard the boy's replied. "What's yer name, lad?" he asked.
Gibbs sighed, "We'll be needin' it in case things go wrong. Fer yer tombstone an' all."
At this, the captain just laughed as he took another drink.

But Will prevented the stowaway from giving Jack his name. "Might I have a word?" It was not a question. Will led the way down into the galley, away from prying ears.
"Before you say give him your name, I just wanted give you some advice - keep your gender secret. How did I know you were a girl?" His face hardened, the pain evident in his honey eyes. "I saw the way you looked at him - you are not the first to fall under Sparrow's charms. I brought you down here to warn you about him. I don't know if he truly cares about anything - or anybody."

Thanks heart )) (((OOC: Yeah, she's never role played before so I've been trying to teach her the ropes. Thorn, I've edited your post to where it's basically just Will talking. You can't play another person's character, remember? There's nothing for you to react to until the person who plays that character reacts. Go back and read the posts that Ore and I did for a good example. Sometimes, with the two of us, we take little liberties on each other's person, but that's just because we've been role playing with one another for about a year now. Such a liberty would be Jack finding the right barrel and seeing her inside. Usually, it would have been up to Ore to say that her character was in the barrel. Course... *thinks* Sallia kinda reacts to reactions that haven't happened yet... but she's just hyper. Hehehe. Anywho, yeah. Now you would have to wait for Oreparma's character to answer you. Though... you did ignore Elizabeth... which I might just have to play off of. Keep tryin', mate. You'll get tha hang of it, soon 'nough!))) heart

Jack rose one eyebrow at Will's actions. "Captain 'ere! Remember?!" he shouted after the two but soon sighed and just took a drink of his rum.
Soon, he had forgotten the offense.
Elizabeth meanwhile, sighed in frustration. Will was obviously still angry... even though she had tried to explain her reasons to him before.
'It was to save all our lives... to save your life, Will...' her thoughts whispered as she turned slightly misty eyes back to the ocean...
It wasn't long however, until someone noticed her emotional plight.
And it was the one person she would rather not have talked to.
Captain Jack Sparrow.
The Captain made his way over, his arms hanging over the side of the railing, bottle of rum clutched in his hands. He handed the bottle to Elizabeth.
"Looks like you need this more'n I do, love." the pirate replied, though there was no joke in his eyes, no smirk, no expectations.
The woman looked at him strangely before taking the offered bottle and sipping at it.
"That's twice now you've taken me offered rum, liz." Jack spoke. "Somethin' on yer mind, ay?"
Elizabeth handed the bottle of rum back to him. "I don't want to talk about it." she replied before pushing herself off the railing and going to stand near the bow of the ship.
Jack sighed, "You'll have to eventually, love!" he shouted after her.

"What are ye goin' on 'bout?" Ashlin asked with a perfectly curious expression on her face. "I think ye a bit sun-touched...uh...pirate...person...sir. I'm not exactly sure what ye be saying 'bout gender. An' I'm just twelve. Don't quite like the ladies much. And the Captain ain't no lady and I'm not no eunich. Are you? Jack Sparrow's the most famous pirate captian ever on Torgtuga and I'm gonna be a famous one, too."
She skipped back up to the deck where she had left Jack and Gibbs.
"Ye shold be watchin' out fer that one. I think he's not right in the head meself. Anyways, Most people call me Ashes. I can start a fire just about anywheres with just aout anything."

Jack, having no ideas whatsoever as to Ashlin's true gender, smiled. "Then welcome aboard, Ashes!" he greeted.
Though the captain stopped suddenly, putting a finger to his lips in thought.
"No no... I jus' said tha' didn't I?" Jack rolled his eyes. "Glad ta 'ave ya an' all that nonsense. Now!" and he squinted slightly as he looked Ashlin in the eye. "Who exactly am I ta be watchin' out for, ay?"

Ashlin frowned, "Um...that tall bloke over there with the brown hair. Looks kind..lost...was over by the lassie over there. Is he a eunich or something, cause I think he might be sweet on you"

Jack's eyes widened, his jaw dropping so that his mouth formed a sort of 'o' shape. Then, the man squinted, looking toward Elizabeth and finding no one.
"Eunuch, ye say?" the captain asked, his mind tumbling before his expression brightened and he held up a finger. "Ah, young William Turner." a cunning smile crept onto the man's face. "Ye know, I thought the same thing meself, though I'm guessing if an Elizabeth are ta be married, he can't be a enuch. Saved us from a few scraps though, that one... The comment, mate." Jack's eyes landed back on Ashlin. "Will's not lost, persay... more like..." the man thought for a moment, one hand dangling in the air as he did so. "More like confused. Lot's 'appened lately so I wouldn't put it past young Will ta be more'n not right. Unless of course he's not right because of what I did... which wasn't right to begin with and which places us all rather in the wrong more than the right. Savvy?"
