Of course we love Daniel. Him and his persistent, Armand-loving ways. Even if Armand's been known to stray. stare

I have to like him. I'm an aspiring reporter myself.

Ech I know this is pretty late but pfft ah well XD just wondering if anyone's read Blood and Gold and their thoughts on the Marius and Daniel relationship...eg how did Daniel get the way he is in his short parts in the book (and why he has an obsession with making model villages and towns.... gonk )

Poor Daniel, he's insane. But Marius was a little crazy there for a while, painting and repainting walls because he missed Pandora so much. Hopefull Daniel will get better soon.

It sort of annoyed me that Armand moved on to Benji and Sybelle. Daniel's always been one of my favourite VC characters, and well...Blood and Gold is the only other mention for him, and it makes him seem a bit potty...and incapable of feeding properly without Marius' help.

I know, I love Daniel most for some reason, and the only time we get to see him again he's messed up. But I guess being a vampire is hard. I hate benji and sybelle, I have no idea why Armand likes them. But at least we know that Daniel is still hi only fledgling.

That's true. And yeah, I agree, I hate Sybelle an Benji too. What the hell was Marius thinking when he turned them? But good on him for looking after Daniel though. Two of my fave characters in one, hee.

We can always imagine though. I don't know about you but I was disappointed with Blood Canticle. It left alot of things unsaid about the other characters.

Yeah, it started with Louis and Lestat, Louis should have at least been in it.

Pah. I didn't read any of the novels to do with the witches, thus I sat there confused for most of it. And oh yes, more Louis please.

"That telephone, I want you to dial Paris, I want to see if it can really talk to Paris." "Goddamn it, do it yourself," Daniel roared. "You're five hundred years old and you can't use a telephone? Read the directions. What are you, an immortal idiot? I will do no such thing!" How surprised Armand had looked.
To some up what I love about Daniel. At this point in the book he was not Armand's lover, or friend even. He was for lack of a better word prey in a cat and mouse game. Armand had nearly killed him in new orleans locking him in the basement and threatening him with his life, and then told him to run. When Armand told him to run, he made it clear that Armand would probably kill him, the moment Armand lost interest in the game Daniel would be dead. And Daniel knew Armand from Louis's narrative, knew what Armand was capable of, and knew from their first enounter how powerless he(Daniel) was against Armand. Armand could kill him easily on a whim, and insofar as Daniel knew at the time probably would. Yet Daniel has the nerve to react that way to Armand. I think this is part of what drew Armand to Daniel, Daniel would not fear or submitt competly to Armand despite Armand's power. Daniel challenged Armand, Armand who had ruthlessly ruled over his coven in Paris and the Theater of the Vampires. This mortal boy who knew perfetly well what Armand was, would dare to defy him and insult him.

Ok Cameo, I'm here to feed your need for attention. You gave a great summary, and you have great points as well. Which I happen to agree with. Perhaps that makes me biased, but oh well I don't care.

You guys make me want to try to get through Pandora again so I can read blood and gold. Although I'd like to keep my memories of Daniel from QotD intact. I also love Daniel's nerve. Everyone else has fallen slavishly at the feet of whatever vampire came to them, immeadiately affectionate and friendly. Even David. But not Daniel. And that makes him awesone. And he's kind of the Ricean incarnation of us fans in his shameless begging for the gift.
