I've only ever been to one farm in my life. It's a local one, and I don't think they actually kill animals there. Maybe chicken?

They grow lots and lots of fruits and vegetables, and they had a small chicken-house (small in size and number of chickens, they weren't terribly crowded or anything).

I think they sell milk there too, so they must have a few cows somewhere.

It's a pretty small farm though, so I don't think anything really cruel is going on there.

I think if you're going to have a farm with animals in it, make a suitible farm. One with a lot space, it's clean, keep the animals healthy, and make sure there is pleanty of food.I mean if you really have to use the animals for food, then give them a nice home for their last part of their lives.Even if you "think" it's too much money to waste on an animal that will die soon, who cares!People all over the world do their best to comfort their loved one who are about to die, why can't you do it for the animals.

All in all I think to be a farmer you have to love animals, and care for them well.Because even though they're just "food", they're your pets.

I'm the first generation on my father's side, and second generation on my mothers not to grow up on a farm. I always hear my dad telling stories of how my grandma would make him and his twin brother wake up at 5:30 every morning in the winter to put hot water on the animals' frozen drinking water, so that they could have something to drink. They had to wake up early every morning to feed the animals, and cleaned their living spaces in the barn and field regularly. They named the cows and chickens, they petted them, and always made sure they were healthy.

The reason every farm you see on PETA, and every other Animal Rights group, has horrible living conditions, is because they only expose the horrible ones. The farms they investigate that meet standards...Don't NEED publicity because they're doing nothing wrong.
