Freddie inspired me to keep up with my piano playing. i know i will never be as good as he is, but i didn't quit. And John helped me a lot, too... it makes me feel better to know that my boyfriend isn't the only silent bass player out there. And being able to give up music for his family... i admire that kind of commitment.

Freddie's inspired me to get more into art. <3 I love art, but lack of a favorite artist really just killed it, so art class became a chore for me. Never in my life had it until recently, and now I'm actually considering going to art school.
Thanks, Freddie darling. <3 And especially for letting me practice charcoal on your photos. Lol.

I'm reviving an old thread! Hooray! Anyway. Just a warning: This post is ******** long, dears, read if you wish. wink
The entire band has influenced me in some way. I mean, just their music, it was the driving force that got me through middle school. I moved to that city in 4th grade, and the kids were just rotten to me there. Pretty much all I had to depend on was Queen's music (and the movie Labyrinth, but that's a different story). I don't know much about Rog (I still love him though), but the other three have had major influences on me...
-Right now, I can say Brian May is the only thing keeping me from pawning my acoustic guitar off for cash... I am frustrated to death with that instrument, as I have almost no knowledge of the instrument, and feel like I can't progress until I get some real direction (more than the two measly summers I took lessons from my creepy HS choir teacher).
Still. I have to remember that I haven't been playing very long, and that Brian couldn't have been very good when he started his first stringed instrument either.
And, I heard that, years ago, Brian had a bout with depression, and even contemplated suicide, but he turned out okay. The bad feelings, they don't last forever, and you pretty much just have to gut them out... Better days will come eventually, they are worth waiting for. I think Brian personifies that, to me.
-Freddie. Oh lordy, where to begin? He was himself. It was thought strange by some, but he didn't give a flying ********. He did what he wanted, regardless of what people thought. He was original and multifaceted. The wild/party persona, and his more relaxed state. Besides that, he had a brilliant talent at writing music, but most of all... I am inspired by his singing. His voice was just... amazing. There are still times when I think my voice is pretty crappy, but just thinking about Freddie's amazing voice uplifts my self esteem.
-John. Deaky. What an amazing person. I see so much of myself in him, it scares me sometimes. It's even gotten to the point where I wonder sometimes if we didn't know each other in a past life or something. I swear. His personality... it worked for him, so there's nothing that says I have to change who I am to live my life, and to me, Deaky is living proof of that. You can be shy and a recluse, and there's nothing wrong with that.. but you can still have your social moments in the spotlight. You don't have to choose one or the other... Also, his playing. It just.. makes me want to sell all my s**t so I can afford a bass guitar and start learning it (although I guess it's a good idea to have a handle on guitar first)...
It just... Queen helps me in so many ways, I honestly can't imagine how I lived my life without the inspiration I get from them.
I could list more ways, but this post is long enough!

Well, ol' Freddie's done it again... gone and inspired me to play the piano again... here i thought it was just a hobby now... anyways, 'm in a band. Well, two bands. One is a pep-type band, where i'm playing the tuba (!) and synthesizer. The other, however, is a rather good jazz band. And you know what my audition piece was?
Yep. Bohemian Rhapsody. When i go home this weekend, i'll record the better version of it. It's improved from the Youtube version.
i missed playing with people, though. i think that's one of the secret reasons bands like Queen stay together so long... their instrument sounds so naked solo. So lonely. It needs the company of others.
Soren: One of the pieces that we are playing is Tank! Granted, no piano part there, but i think i get the bongos.

Wow, that's quite an accomplishment, Scary. Bands'll help your musical development a lot, and I imagine you'll have enough fun to encourage you to keep practicing. razz Playing with several different people and watching upclose how they work their instruments and everything is a good experience.
But man, how is a jazz band going to play Tank!? You need a big band to cover most of it. razz I mean, they've gotta at least have a saxophone, trumpet, trombone... and a bunch of other stuff, but yeah. What's the band comprised of? Have fun with those bongos. That's a very important role right there. razz

It's a big band. We have five alto saxes, a tenor, a bari, six trumpets, four 'bones, an upright bass, a key bass/synth (that's me, occasionally), a drum set, a mallet guy (doubles on 'bone), a really talented rhythm guitar, and me on the piano. Surprisingly, that's actually smaller than my old jazz band... old jazz band had all of that, plus another tenor, a bass 'bone, a tuba, and another pianist.

Popo-Licious I'm in general, inspired by Roger Taylor. For instance, lemme talk about something unpleasant that happened today. I found out that the boy I've had a crush on for two years (who didn't know) is going out with my friend, a friend who I trusted, who promised me that she wouldn't go out with him. Most girls would cry. They would leave mean Myspace messages, gossip and get their friends to gang up on said girl. But for some reason, my mind keeps going back to Roger and saying, "Hey... That's not cool. He wouldn't want you to be petty and do stuff like that. He would want you to be a fighter and move on, just like him. Tell that kid to shove it, and move on..." He's also taught me to stand up for myself and be a better person. To be proud of what I believe in and not back down. 3nodding all I can say to that is...wow...

As a guitarist and musician i have been inspired by the whole band, but especially by Brian May, a true guitar hero, and i have based my style of playing and also my sound very much on his.

I was told a million times of all the people in my way Queen inspires my emotions so well. I could be in the shittiest bummer of a mood and then after a few queen songs, I'm practically walkin' on air. how I had to keep on trying and get better ev'ry day
