Casron de'Iliria wandered through the streets of this odd, new town, determined not to be caught for who he truly was. Something sparkling caught his eye on the ground, & he picked it up. " 'Ello, whut's this?" As he held the odd thing, it melted into his hand, leaving a strange white mark. " 'Ey, cannae get it off o' me!" He shook his hand, a frustrated expression on his face. After several minutes of this, he finally gave up. "Och well, Oi guess it can stay." He shook his hand one more time, then walked on.

It was weird. Kahlan felt a strange aura radiating from the young boy. It was almost as if he possessed some kind of---"wait" she thought. Kahlan's eyes went from his eyes to his necklace.

Konrad...where did you get that necklace? Can i see it for a moment?

((What if some important but ditzy preistess dropped it on the ground somehow? Casron has this strange habit of stuff happening to him, that's how most of his stories go. Sort of like the main guy in Discworld. xd ))

"Ach, lost already....." Casron walked through the streets of the strange town, trying futily(sp?) to recognize any landmarks. After a while, he heard voices emanating from around the corner. "See it for a moment..... This thing.... Don't trust...." One seemed to be female, the other a young boy. Casron gulped, hoping they weren't Bounty Hunters, & rounded the bend. " 'Ello thar, Do ye know where the nearest inn is? Oi'm a bit lost"

"Nu-uh!" Konrad says, "There's another Inn closer...just not many people know about it. Follow me, I'll show you!" He grabs Kahlan by the hand and drags her after him. He goes through an alley, and comes out on the other side. There is a building that has an inn sign on it, but it looks rather uninviting. There are several rough men standing outside, lounging about. One look at them tells you that they are of the underbelly of the city. Any worry that might have occured by their appearence is stoped by Konrad's next statment. "Hey guys, i've got some guest for the night...no fair hurting em, they're my friends!" He continues to pull Kahlan towards the building, and several of the men smile down at the boy as he walks past.

Konrad looked up at Kahlan and shook his head, "You don't have to worry while you're here, the guys will help protect us." He gestures at the many scary men who are lounging about outside, "They're my family." He smiles and looks as if the last statement should explain everything.

Kahlan stopped Konrad. The strange man was still following her.

Konrad, we've been very rude.

She turned to Casron.

Forgive me, sir, for suddenly abandoning you so quickly. My apologies...

Once again, her eyes drifted to his rune-fused hand. She had to make sure he wasn't dangerous.

I see you've got a rune...do you mind if I ask what kind it is?

She patted Konrad on the head while she talked.

Kahlan was dumbfounded. "How could anyone not know what a rune was?"

Well...what you have in your hand is what we call a 'rune'. It contains unique powers. Depending on what type it is, it could contain specific element-based powers and abilities.

Kahlan wondered if she was saying too much, for she still did not know if he was a threat. She would ask him, and then she would know, for she could tell when someone was lying.
