The whole bit with betting all their money on the game at the feast had me at the edge of my seat. I was going "oh, no. No no no. Noo, no no no. Oh, NO! No."

Yeah, I was actually pissed that they put their rent money into it. My reasoning was that it was because they were Irish, they are stubborn, and they had an audience.

I really didn't think they had to dip into their rent money for that stupid carney game, but to each their own. xd

Oh, this thread is SO right up my alley. *cuddles the other anglophiles*

I recently saw this awesome Scottish film called Late-Night Shopping, about a group of friends who all work the graveyard shift. It's so brilliant!

I also love Irish films....Last of the High Kings is a great one. Gabriel Byrne, Colm Meaney, Catherine O'Hara, and for some reason, Christina Ricci and Jared Leto.
There's this other one...god, but the title is escaping me now. Gabriel Bryne again, trying to find his two sons, who run away on a horse they stole. Into the West? Something like that? It's adorable.

Colm Meaney is awesome in Intermission. It's the Irish Love, Actually. I didn't think too highly of the film. I mainly went to see it for eye candy (Kelly MacDonald, Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy).

Gabriel Byrne is the ultimate Irish eye candy. He's so fekking sexy....unf. Like in Miller's Crossing? I wanted to jump him like woah.

I remember him from The Usual Suspects.

I have to admit I have a weakness for Irish accents. I did like Colin Farrell for a while, but my boy is Cillian Murphy. heart

There's this great Irish movie called "This Is The Sea", about a kid from an Catholic Irish mob family and a young girl from a very protective Protestant family who fall in love. It's fantastic, very moving and poignant. The guy, Ross McDade, definitely falls in the category of Irish eye candy, but strangely, his imdb page lists that movie and nothing else. No birthday date or location, bio, agent, nothing. Gabriel Byrne also plays a small role in the film.

Sounds good, but unfortunately Netflix doesn't have it. I queued up Disco Pigs, though.
