Domini smiled. "I've been single pretty much my entire life. Never even had any real...anything with a member of the male species." She laughed. "Apart from the day you decided to kiss me on the staircase in sixth year of course. Who could forget that?" She leaned over and decided to make Draco suffer through the horrible indignity of having his perfect blonde hair ruffled. "But since then, no real interaction with men, until Chad was practically flirting with me in the greenhouses."

Draco made a face when she ruffled his hair. He wasn't a puppy dog for heaven's sake! "That is a crying shame. You must have a really excellent reason for keeping the entire male race at a distance." He smiled slightly. Me? Tell me it's me! You've been waiting for me to sweep you off your feet since I kissed you on that staircase. "Well, I hadn't forgotten. And you can do better than Chad, you know. Hell, you could probably have any man you want just by smiling at him." Chad? Oh, for ******** sake, if you go for Chad over me, I may be forced into mourning for my amazing charm and charisma.

Domini shrugged. "It's not all my fault. Either they think I'm weird for being obsessed with my roses, especially La Rosa de la Sangre -- actually that's what really scares 'em off sometimes -- or I just don't think they are worthy of the treasure that is me." She melodramatically placed a hand over her heart and adopted a very "Narcissa Malfoy" type of facial expression. The seriousness was broken by a burst of laughter. Dom smiled tucked a stray strand of black/brown behind her ear, reclining back against her chair and closing her eyes.

Draco thought of the enormous carnivorous rose bush and wondered if he could really blame them. Still, he had a strange fondness for the most dangerous and exotic of Domini's plants and especially her roses. "Well, I'm glad that Mr Monaghan can appreciate the treasure that is you." He pretended to be taken aback. "La Rosa? Who wouldn't love La Rosa? Her sleek curves of her tendrils, the predatory gleam in her, er, petals, the beauty of her blood red buds! And, of course, that she wants to eat you alive. Men kill for that sort of thing."

"And don't forget the child eating venus flytrap in greenhouse two." Dom smiled, eyes still closed and facing the ceiling. "Yes. Some do love The rose of blood. But not many. Men would kill for me, my mother always used to say. Not for my plants." She chuckled. "Yes. He does. And there aren't many who can accept my eccentricty."

"Oh, don't be silly. Plenty of people would kill your plants." He didn't bother to smile. Her eyes were closed; there was no use in maintaining the facade when no one was looking. "You know, it's prettier in Spanish. Less sinister. La Rosa de Sangre isn't out of the wrong type of Muggle cinema." So you two are together? "Really? He doesn't seem, well, as captivating as La Rosa. I wouldn't think that you went for that sort."

"But I wouldn't let them kill my plants. They come anywhere near doing so, I would kill them before they touched my roses." She said, with an absolutely straight face. "No, he's not quite as captivating as La Rosa, but he's good at comforting people. He defintely knows the right words to say." She frowned slightly and sat back up, looking at him. "And what sort do I go for? Men like you?"

Your plants are a menace to society. "No, not necessarily me. I figured you would want someone with enough money to get you out of this place and let you tour the world looking at interesting foreign plants and, well, seeing the world. Not that you would marry just for money, but that you would marry a moneyed, well-traveled man who could hold your attention and maybe had interests in common." Or, y'know, me, at least for an evening. He smiled at her. "I'd like it if you thought I was that sort of man."

Domini pushed herself up and walked to one of the bookcases, staring stone faced at the books on the shelf, hands clasped behind her back. Silence stretched for a long moment, then turned back to face him and plopped herself own on the floor. "But I like it here. I mean, I'd love to go to Egypt and over to Mexico. But...it...ugh!" She paused and flopped backwards, staring at the ceiling. "My...family's here. And my mother would throw a bloody fit if I ran off with some man."

Draco realized that he'd missed something. How travel could not appeal to anyone, he didn't know. "I'd like to have family here to miss me," he said softly. He settled into his armchair. It was a soft unyielding plush and he felt suddenly uncomfortable, the deja vu of a familiar but forgotten sensation washing over him. Had he once had a chair like this? "You'd like Asia and the continent. The US isn't bad either."

Domini scoffed. Yeah right. Like my family would care. "They wouldn't miss me, persay." She mumbled to the ceiling. "I'm sure I would like it. But, my whole life is here. I've never even been out of the country, Draco. I've lived here my entire life. It'd be too strange to just leave on a whim to some place halfway across the world."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 12, 2006 6:43 pm

Draco smiled bitterly. "I have to leave the country to visit my family. All I have here is a dusty old house." Never out of the country? He didn't know what to say to that. He did know that she was suddenly a lot less attractive and a lot more just a girl that he could ********. "You could use floo powder and be there in minutes. You could have lunch in Tokyo and be back in time for tea." Alair traveled. Was that what had kept Draco for all those years? Alair had stories, was an intriguing conversationalist, had been out of the country time and time again with Kiri. "Your whole life doesn't have to be here," he muttered.

Dom pushed herself up, smiling slightly. "Don't get me wrong, I'd love to travel. See the world and experiance the culture." She stood and and spun around once. "I would love to travel." She repeated a bit softer. "But...I guess...I just don't know why I haven't traveled. The 'family will miss me' is just a lame excuse. I don't know."

Draco smiled slowly. He succeeded mostly in making himself look like a predatory cat waiting to pounce on unsuspecting prey. "Mmhm. Some people don't like change. Nothing to be ashamed of." He blinked and said without missing a beat (though admittedly in a softer voice), "Domini, can I kiss you?" It fell out of his mouth. Oh, ********. That doesn't sound like I want to take advantage of her. "No touching, I promise! Just a kiss. Lips, no hands." He put his up. "Really!"

Domini stared at him from her spot on the floor. She was partially surprised by the request, and partially by that fact that she wasn't really surprised by it. Almost like in some part of her, she had wanted it to happen, or she had expected it...or both. She opened her mouth to say something, then closed it. For one of the first times in her life, Domini Rae Vida was at a loss for words. "I...uh...I mean..." She stopped talking before she made a fool of herself. Hell, she couldn't even remember the last time she had been speechless.
