I'm very much in love with Europe, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean (Italy, Greece, Cyprus, etc.), so my bias is in favor of any nation in that strip of earth. Heh. I think Holland is a great nation, with fantastic beer. It's on my list of places to see and spend a summer in.

From what I recall from... somewhere, on the subject of wooden shoes. They're still worn in similar fashion to galoshes, when walking through things that might ruin normal shoes, but otherwise are mostly for "traditional" outfits.

I always thought wooden shoes, custom-made, would be really interesting to wear...

Since about a year, prostitution IS LEGAL.
the reason why should be a huge shock to alot of people, so yhou have been warned.


In the old days it was illegal.
in the old days a girl could enter a brothel a lot easier..
then a single woman would have a hard time to get a decent job..
just because they were women.
Thats how women got into the bisuness.
the word "Whore" means : Working woman.
So next time, use that word with respect!


now that woman are more educated, and can get good job, so they dont need to sell their body.
but the demand for prostitution didnt drop.
still alot of people, aslo alot of tourist, would go the there..
The most known place would be "The red light" district.
it got his name for the red light around to windows where they work.

back to the story, so they needed to get girls into the business.
most of them are poor east-european women, who were tricked.
the were promised a better life in holland, but when they would arrive here, a pimp would keep her passport and force her into the business.

another one, are lover-boys.
These are trained young men, who can talk slick and get almost any girl with there sweet talk. they would get them gifts and pay them dinner..
at the moment she is totaly sold, that she would do anything for him ( that why love is dangerous) then he would break-up and make them pay them back for it all, and sneakily talk/force them into the prostitution.


why make it legal?
to get more grip on the situation.
its more to help the girls and the visitors.
Now a whore pays taxes, and such.
So that way they can map who is legal and who is illegal.
that way only girls who want to be in the business are in it.
it will be some time before we get every illegal on out, but its on the way.

there is still an organisation, called "the red line", for the support for whores. i dont know how that works, since i havent done my research on that one.

Is it bad that I already knew almost all of that about prositution?

And as for the wooden shoes, well, I have a hard enough time wearing geta when I have to. I couldn't even imagine wearing a full shoe.

Actually, I think it's for a number of reasons. I mean, you gotta have skill to be able to run in the damned things. You get used to the balance quickly enough, but jumping and running take a lot of getting used to.

They're easy enough to wear I guess, I just don't like them. Not my style.

But I think, not so much them staying on, but actually walking around and doing much of anything in them would be annoying I would think. I mean, I wouldn't expect it to be too comfortable after so long.
