I just got back from Katsu. I plan on AB, and Connecticon and Otakon for the rest of this year.

I was reading about Connecticon at Katsu, and its getting ALOT bigger than it has the past few years. Im starting to get impressed by its growth!

Anyone else making the trek?

Suprisingly it isn't this year! Alot of the panels are online comics, and they are showing a suprising amount of anime!!

I was looking at their brochure, and I was quite shocked. They are quickly moving to an actual anime con wink

I haven't been to Connecticon yet, but my friends say it is a great time.
They actually made a bunch of new friends there (some of which are now my friends too, others I haven't met...but they are going to AB so I'll meet them there!)
If you've ever seen the cosplay campout videos on youtube those are my friends and their friends they met at Connecticon.
(BTW I'm not in them becasue I wasn't there...but if you check out the other videos by the same guy I appear in the New Years ones...)

I dunno where CTCon got a reputation as a gaming con, but it is actually has a lot of anime going on, including a masquerade, cosplay chess, anime rooms, panels, cosplayers everywhere. CTCon draws a TON of cosplayers. (I'm not going to compare it to AB, but it's a lot.) There is gaming, but it's really much like how AB has gaming. I've never thought of Connecticon as anything but an Anime con with other stuff happening. Yes they do have a ton of cool webcomic artists as well.

From what I heard, PortCon Maine was boring, 'cept for the dances, but they had a crappy DJ

anyone else go and care to argue for/against this?
Portcon isn't boring. Tis just small. It is easier to make friends there than Anime Boston... I speak from expirience... I'm so over looked at larger conventions. Tis nice to go to smaller ones, meet new people and make new friendships ^-^

Mmm last year my friends snuck in glow in the dark body paint... Lets just say that was a rave/dance of a life time.. xD

I haven't been to Portcon, (if I make money someday I'll be there) but it looks like it has a lot going on and a lot of the staff are AB people as far as I can tell. It may be smaller, but it looks like it has the potential to be great. Don't sell smaller cons short, they have their advantages. ^_^
