Thanks Zam. I'm in about the same place as you- just graduated high school and never lets anyone read any of my work. wink

Merlin,
I love the character. Nice Frankenstein parallel with the twist of abandonment for his turn to insanity. The one thing that I was wondering about is: if he did want a big family and did have the ability to create life, why did he stop at bringing his son back to "life", or is that just the beginning? It looks like a great three dimensional character. (I'm so happy it isn't another Mary Sue!) Keep it up!

Eh I figured that's really as far as he can go with what he has. His son isn't going to be anymore alive than that.
If you're asking why he didn't create more things, he will. He's a villain, he needs minions, and there are lots of people in the city he works in.

A Mary Sue is a generic one dimensional character. It usually is modeled loosely on the writer and has no flaws. That's the basic idea, but there are more complete links in the Writer's Forum as well as links to sites about avoiding them.

It's the most generic female name they could come up with. Like John Smith for men.

(I did this one a long time ago but I find that's it's good... after some spell check razz )

Mafital
Chapter two
In which Miffy finds out about that elf

Miffy sat on the porch to her house. The small yard was decorated with faires and drawfs. The curtains in the windows had moons and stars on them, and the roof over the porch held wind chims which played unknown songs as the wind passed by. The house was located uptown Manhatten where the building grew it's highest at six stories tall. The block had no stores on it, only the little corner store which sold daily needs. Miffy's house was bunched up between five others just like her's. But all the other means of housing on the street were old apartment buildings.
Miffy opened the pastic bag and drew out the back-pack. She fixed the strap so that it fitted her tiny form and sat up. She walked around her tiny city yard, steping over stone faires and plastic mushrooms, bouncing the pack till it felt right. But it didn't. She sat back down on the porch and toke the bag off. She layed it on her lap and un-zipped the top flap and peeped inside.
There was much more then just an extra pocket, but two bottles. She picked one of them up. The bottle had a lovely green tint to it and the lip had the most outstanding broader. It was sliver with tiny green gems layed in it. The second bottle was tinted orange and had red gems on the lip. Miffy stared in aw at the two bottles before placing them on the porch next to her. Sun shine gleamed though them and cast colored lights on the white painted wooden boards.
Miffy set them aside for a moment and looked into the bag again. There was something else inside. She pulled it out only to find that there was another, just like it, in the bag. They were small tin boxes, one blue, the other brown. The lips of the lids also had silver boarders. The brown box had yellow gems and the other had blue, the same color as the box it was on. The metal on the boxes reflected the sun very well.
Miffy wondered if the old lady of the store knew about the objects in the bag, and if she did, weather or not it was all worth twenty dollars. She aranged the items on the porch so she could have a better look at them. She held the bag tighty in her arms as she sat, legs crossed, staring at the gilttering objects.
It was only after so long that a voice startled Miffy. "What do you have now?"
She turned her head to the tall metal fance to find Mark standing, his fingers hooked to the fance, and the other hand holding the leash of his dog. Mark's hair was cut short, and he had vampire's hair line. He wore a pain black T-shirt and long bondage pants. Mark's ears were covered in rings and hooks, but none were on his face. On his rists he wore many spiked bracelets like the one on his Chuwawa's neck.
"Is it some fairy magic?" He said rather dully.
"No. They're empty." Miffy stood up and walked over to open the gate. "I found them inside a back-pack." She turned around so he could she the quivern shaped bag.
Mark uncliped the dog from the leash and the small black chuwawa ran off in to the green foilge. "You don't mind if he-"
"It's alright, I still need to water the flower beds. And as long as he keeps it off the path, it's okay." She sat down on the porch leaving room for Mark. She watched as the dog sniffed a small satuet of an elf sitting on a mushroom. Miffy whistled to it, "Stocker, no! Bad dog."
Stocker backed off and continued among the buds growing from the ground.
Mark picked up the green bottle as he sat down across from Miffy, "So how much did all this cost?"
"Not sure. I don't think the owner knew it was in the bag. She sold all of it to me for twenty dollars. I can say it's a good price for the old bag alone, but not enough for one of these. . . " she picked up the brown box and opened it, "containers."
Mark picked at the gem on the bottle he held. "Do you think it's real? If it is, all of this could be about. . ." He counted the gems on each item, "Forty eight thousand at least!" He glared, over the cork of the bottle he held, to Miffy. "You'll share it with me, right?"
Miffy laughed. "If it is worth that much then I think that lady would have sold it a long time ago and started living downtown."
"So you're saying it's all fake?" Mark taped the bottle.
"I guess so. But I'm going to keep it anyway. It looks very. . ." Miffy searched for the word.
"Magical?" answerd Mark placing the bottle down. "You and your faries," he rolled his eyes, "when will you ever stop."
"Once there's no one else to back me up." She answered.
"So, Willy told you, did he?"
"Tell me what?" She asked. "I don't even know how your bother looks. You never bring him over for me to meet."
"Well, he told me that he saw an elf in the park today. I say he's gone nuts."
"I told you!" Miffy jumped up and stood on the porch pointing at him. Stocker also jumped, not expecting the outbrust. "I told you there are elves living in New York!"
"I don't even think they live in Londen. Miffy, he must have just seen something else. I shouldn't have told you anything at all." He crossed his arms.
"Now I really want to meet your bother. He'll back me up about them." She bonced around the yard, "They are real! They are real! They are-" A hit on the head from the an acorn Mark threw stoped her. "Hay!" She picked it up from the ground and tossed it back at him. Mark blocked it.
"Ouch! Don't blame me for telling you the truth." Mark said. "They aren't real."
Miffy sat back down on the porch and took off the bag. "I'll tell you," she said, "If you're own bother saw one then they must be real. Unless he's nothing like you."
"Maybe my bother was studying too hard. Little sleep can do that to a person." Mark pointed out.
"But it's so sunny and bright today." said Miffy spreading her arms out. "You can't mistake anything you see. Unless," she slumped down agesnt a suport beam, "Unless he was pulling your leg."
Mark thought about it. "No. I don't think so. He ran in the house, panting, saying he came here as soon as he could. Telling me that the elf was asleep and could still be at the park."
"Why didn't you go?"
"He seemed crazy to me. And you'll seem crazy if you go after faires too."
"Elves. Not faries. Your bother said he saw an elf, not a faire." Corrected Miify.
"It dosen't matter 'cus they don't esist."
"Yes they do!" Shouted Miffy standing up. "If they weren't real, then people wouldn't tell tales about them or know about them!"
"They make that stuff up."
"No they don't! They're real I tell you! I'll prove it! I'm going to central park tonight to find one. And when I bring it back with me, you'll be sorry!" Miffy picked up her things and stuffed them into her bag. She then stormed into her house and locked the door behind her.
Mark got up and koncked on the door. "You can lock yourself away from the world every time we try to tell you the truth. Stop hiding in your fantasies and come out into the real world!"
"No!" yelled Miffy through tears. She leaned her back on the door and held the bag close to her. "Just go away. When I find a fairy, you'll be the one having to face leaving your world!"
Mark let out a sigh and called for his dog. Stocker strolled out from behind the small house and sat down in front of his master. Mark hooked the leash on the chuwawa's coller and stared to walk out of the yard.
As Mark opened the gate to leave, he looked back to the white house. The wind settled and the chimes stoped their playing. He closed the gate behind him and entered the new music if children playing on the side walks and cars driving through the small street. He left Miffy's little magical world and wondered back into the real live one of the city. If only it was that simple, thought Mark. If only it was that simple.

A Pirates Life - A musical ballard

Awake at dawn, and onto the ship
Out to the sea, to dive and dip
Onto the island, to plunder and rip
Swing that sword right from your hip
Hey hey diddly hey!
Its a pirates life we lead!

Away off now, back to the boat
Fire the cannons, back at their boats
Sink and burn, leave nothin' afloat
Loot to fondle, and stories to gloat
Hey hey diddly hey!
Its a pirates life we lead!

Now Back to the island with great haste
Onto the shore for meals we can taste
Loot to the caves let none go to waste
Now back to the bar for rum and waist!
Hey hey diddly hey!
Its a pirates life we lead!

Onto the street out by your ear
A rum too many or two I hear
A good nights sleep gets back your cheer
Coz there aint nothing a pirate would fear
Hey ho here we go!
For pirates shall succeed!!!

Summary: Cross and Rosalita, left alone without a crew go to Provoka. Shows how they met also.

I don't know if this is considered graphic, she almost get's raped but does not, so it doesn't really show anything too graphic.

Title: Rosalita and Cross go to Provoka.

Rosalita walked around the room she was in, her and Mercurito Cross' room on the Ravenwolf. She was waiting for him to come back in the room. Most of the crew had abandoned them / jumped ship.

She was so angry with them for what they did. So angry.

Finally Cross came back into the room. "Cross..." She ran and wrapped her arms around him and gave him a kiss* I've been thinkin... what'll we do now?

"We're going to a place I know, called Provoka. We'll find allies and a new crew there. Thank ye for not abandoning me my love." She smiled at him and kissed him again whispering "How could I ever think to abandon you? You're my beloved. I won't leave your side without a fight. Those men were being foolish I think."

"They're good lads love, they just did what they felt was right..." He gave her a kiss back, unworried about showing affection to her at th' moment. He sat down on the edge of their bed and pulled her into his lap. "I don't care. What they felt was right. They know you're th' best captain they could find and couldn't find a better. Th' fools..."

He knew she had a temper, but she was also sweet most of the time. Cross leaned over and kissed her. "Come with me to th' front of th' ship love. I have t'show ye something. With them gone it just means we have more privacy to do as we wish on th' ship." he grinned at her. She giggled and nodded and he lifted her up.

He carried her in his arms to the front of the ship and they stood at it, looking out at the sea. "Y'see that isle in th' distance me love? That's where we're goin'. Provoka.

Rosalita smiled and kissed him. He had such a tender side when they were alone that he showed when no one else was around. This is why she loved this man... Not just because he was so strong... or because he was such a good leader... but because he was so good to her. He wrapped his arms around her and they watched the island for a few moments before they set sail.

She had to help him this time but she didn't mind. Once they were on course he got a chair and sat down on the deck, pulling her into his lap. "Ah, I love you me bonnie lass." She smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist. "And I love you my beloved Captain."

He kissed her and smiled "It's not captain when we're alone pet." She blushed. "Yes Mercurito..." She leaned over and kissed him. Oh how she loved him... Her heart began to pound in her chest. She clung to him and kissed him with everything in her. He kissed her back just the same, holding his hands around her waist, pulling his beloved closer.

"You're so beautiful, my Rosalita." He smiled down at her. "And you're th' handsomest pirate I have ever saw... nay...th' handsomest man... My Mercurito." She laid her head against his chest and he held her. He caressed her cheek and she smiled. She never allowed herself to let down her guard, or her shields except for with Mercurito.

"Come Lass, come with me..."

This brought back a memory. She was captured years ago by a prostitution ring... used as was pleased, she had to learn to please whoever she was with, and had to deal with hell. She one night decided to escape, she ran as far and as fast as she could into the city but she was being followed by some men. They wanted to take her back.

"Bloody hell! I have't get out o' here!" She whispered under her breath. She ran down the wrong alley...

It had a dead end.

She had messed up badly and now the men were cornering her. Three of them, not just two as she thought, but the third one hung back...why would he? She had no weapons to fight them with.

They cornered her and she pushed herself against the wall whimpering.

"There y'are...stupid whore. What made y'think ye could get away? Heh. We can always find ye....always. Ye cannae leave the ring, do you not get that? I think we need to teach you a lesson."

"Please..." tears streamed down her face "I just wanted to get out... I don't want to be stuck there anymore.... Please let me go!"

The men shook their heads, the third one moved into the shadows, why was he there and not with them? It made no sense to her.

They walked closer to her, each one grabbed an arm. "Please no!" She KNEW what they intended to do with her... they were going to hurt her and abuse her right here in the alley.

"Either cooperate or get in trouble ye slut. That's all you're good for... So take it like ye should!"

Tears streamed down her face as they dragged her past the man in the shadows, they were going to humiliate her...

One ripped part of her dress andthe other tossed her down onto the ground, face down. She sobbed. Suddenly a shot rang out. She turned and looked and the man who had threw her down fell over, there was a second shot. The man who ripped her dress joined him, she scooted away, afraid of this new man. He killed them, was he trying to save her or was he with them?

She tried to hold her dress up to cover her chest. He slid his gun into his jacket and smiled down at her. "Don't worry lass, I won't hurt ye... I saw you runnin' an' those men following ye... I'm Captain Mercurito Cross, what is your name lass?"

She looked up at him and smiled "Mine is Rosalita Blackthorne, tis nice t'meet ye Captain Cross."

He reached out a hand and helped her up then pulled off his jacket, so that she would be properly covered. She suddenly threw her arms around him and sobbed into his shoulder thanking him. "How could I not help ye lass? Ye were in trouble. Twas the right thing to do."

"No other man has helped me so...thank you... I don't know where I'll go now but...thank you."

"Come with me Lass. Come with me. I have a ship of me own. Ye can serve on it. "Really?" Her eyes brightened up.

"Aye lass, ye can. Ye need protection from those men an' I can give it t'ye. Ye'll never be harmed again my dear... Never."

She suddenly realized that this was the man she had always dreamed about being with, one who would care about her and protect her. She leaned up and gave him a soft kiss. He became a bit embarassed but didn't stop her.

He moved away from her. "Let's go t'me ship lass."

She was suddenly pulled away from her memories as he called her name "Rosalita?" She blushed "Sorry love, what were ye sayin?"

"I was asking what ye were thinkin' about so hard..." He grinned. "I was thinking about the night ye saved me..."

She walked over ot him and kissed him deeply, he wrapped his arms around her waist and smiles. "Th' best choice I ever made." She kissed him and he pointed to the island.

"We're near it now love, let's get ready t'go into town."

"Aye Captain..." She smirked at him "Mercurito... I love ye..." He smiled down at her. "I love ye too lass."
