NO WAY!! eek Who's the mom? LOL Ashley surprised anyway this is my idea. The merchant is a traitor who happens not to be affected by the plagas. He wants to stop Saddy so he helps Leon. Nobody will know about this except Leon himself, since he has the red eyes other ganados will think he's one of them

Near the end of the game you find a piece of paper that says stuff about the las plagas parasites, and how if they're not put in a trustworthy person, the person could turn on you or something like that. My guess is that this guy has enough free will to fight it, and is trying to make a profit during this tiny war.

After some tests with the PRL 412 the Merchant IS NOT INFECTED. I charged a shot and aimed it at him, he lived, uncharged he lived so I belive this proves at least that much.

By the way, pesetas are worth about 1/10th of a dollar, so the guns are probably way more expensive coming from the merchant than they would be in real life.
By the way, don't you think it's wierd that many of the ganados are carrying like 8000 pesetas (about 800 dollars in cash) around with them?
