The third one is definitley my favorite, because it's the climatic point of the story, and it's where all of the different paths meet and everything makes sense.

.With the book and the movie, I like The Two Towers the most. Especially the Battle for Helm's deep with the movie, aswell as diff. happenings in the book.

well... overall i think the return of the king, for all the emotional weight on it... and my favourite part of the whole LOTR is there, the fight at the fields of pelennor, it's so sad i cry everytime i read it. I also love FOTR, specially the part in Lothlorien, but definetely chose ROTK

I think it would be rather pretentious of me to compare the different parts of one story (the original, unbroken one!), so I have no vote at all. I do not think that I would be able to anyways.

It definitely has to be the third one because it is the most profound. We learn that all the characters are dynamic and in that way human and real. We're shown the complexitites of each story line and yet the simple truths of life.

i like the third one because you can really see Aragorn finally turning into the person he was destined to be..............
and was any one else annoyed that they didn't add in the whole fighting in the Shire bit from the end of the third book into the movie???? I was looking forward to it!!
but yeah, definately Return of the King......................
