I just remembered... anybody ever do the infinite enemy loop on the Lete River? You need an auto-controller and a party who're all at least level 12.
What you do is set the battle cursor to "Memory," save at the first save point on the Lete, then say you want to go right at the fork in the river. Make Terra and Sabin "Fight", Edgar use Auto-Crossbow and Banon in the back row healing. Turn on the A (or O for PSX) button's auto function and leave it overnight. If you're lucky, you'll wake up with characters still fighting on the Lete at around level 40, if you're unlucky they'll have died (but you keep the experience in the Super Nintendo version if the game's still on).
Very lame way of reaching near game-end Levels in the early game. It's fun to do once, makes the rest of the game less interesting though.

I never did that because you'd miss out on so many stat boosts. I tried to not level as much as I could until I got to Zozo and got my first few espers.

Don't forget about X-Zoning Kefka. I was pretty sure that didn't work either gonk That trick was pretty neat though. I can imagine a whole thread on FF6 glitches, it'd be great.
I could ask you guys soo many questions about the game and glitches n stuff. Man, that game ruled. Er, rules.

The two bigest glitches where called the Relm sketch glitches, either one involved sketching an invisible enemy or gau after you had him leap on an emeny on the velt but before he came back into the party, both caused you to get an insane amount of items and almost always messed up your game,. the glitches was later fixed in an unanounced rereleas of the game. nothing was changed except these two glitches which became inposible to do.

Purasuma Terra~Branford Poor Square didn't even have a clue as to how the Vanish and Doom glitch happened or how to fix it... crying I thought it was just the Vanish state made all spells auto-hit, so even Doom would work? basically what Vanish does is alter statistics. a Vanished sprite will have 100% physical defense/evasion, but 0% magic defense/evasion hence why those hard-to-target spells like Doom and X-Zone will work

When I sketched Gau, I didn't get any items BUT I did manage to turn Cyan into a confused purple Kefka, Terra became Setzer, and Relm turned into a bunch of dots. It was awesome! Well, ok, it was awesome for about 2.5 seconds. When it went back to the world map, my party was invisible and the game froze. I managed to get the game to restart, but there were no item there for me. T___T

thoughtsbeyondwords are these still in the roms Yup. Every last cheat and mistake are in the roms. It's only fun to do them in the roms, imo, cause what's the point of destroying an 80$ cartridge from the inside out? crying

I did that once on the PSX and had to go buy a new memory card. It corrupted it. Wasn't fun at all. It did work, but as soon as I finished the battle, the game froze from spinning all night. It took three hours for the PSX to completelly cool down, the FFVI cd stopped working and I had to go buy a new FF Anthology because of it.

I've played on at least five FFVI cartrides, and only one of them has ever glitched for me. All I did was sketch Ultros, like I was supposed to, and the game weirded out on me. It took me a lot of tries to finish the battle (it kept freezing at that point), but finally I think I had General Leo, a pixellated thing, somebody halfway off the left side of the screen, and an invisible person when I won.
After that, my characters were back to normal. Only thing messed up was the item screen--TONS of stuff. The best part was it somehow screwed up the "Throw" command, so that instead of losing the thrown item, I gained one. Illumina does a lot of damage if you chuck it at an enemy. 3nodding
I've never been able to glitch any other cartridge, although it's not for lack of trying. Vanish/Doom just kills enemies, no glitchiness, and I can't get Relm to draw me any funny pictures. I have a ROM, but lost my game data and never bothered to restart; I also have FF Anthologies but hate the load time for each fricking battle, so I haven't gotten Relm yet.
Is there any way to tell if a particular copy of the game is glitchable? I'm willing to buy another copy, but I want to be sure it'll work.

The glitch does nothing to ruin your cartrige just your save file. I used a agme genie back in the day to do all sorts of crazy stuff like have an entire party of moogles, which all have the same abilities as the main characters. With the walk through walls cheat you can see a weird character standing in a cave that doesn't say anything when you try to talk to them. There is also a way to have Leo and Kefka in your party although it is extremely glitchy.

So you might be able to have Kefka kick his own a**? surprised My brother did the same item glitch, except his was intentional - sketching a vanshied enemy - he messed up the items for every single saved file (SNES) to the point that I found it unplayable and had to start over. He's only allowed to play the game if he promises not to use cheats domokun I only use game genie cheats with ROMS, however I really wish I still had the 'random items from enemies' code... that was awesome...

Throwing Illuminas at the Phantom Train... ah, good times... I really only play the ROM anymore. My SNES's power cable has a nasty habit of disconnecting itself at important moments, like just before Joker Doom hits and wipes all the enemies out. crying
