Although at Darcia's warning she had steeled herself against whatever the cave held, Meyial simply wasn't expecting what she saw; all those nikkos, stiff adn still as statues. "Oh my..." Her hand flew up over her mouth in shock, an her eyes widened; with her other hand she clutched the wall, leaning against it to keep from collapsing. Even the knowledge that they weren't dead couldn't kill the horror she felt at the sight.

Darcia knew how she felt, it was the same horror he had felt when he first spied them all through the hole in the wall. He walked over to a small pup and picked it up. "They sleep, I don't know why or how but they are so deeply asleep that nothing seems to wake them." He sighed a bit. "Somethng was going on in here and I don't really know what. I worry about what it means though." He sat down looking at the small bundle that was laying before him. "I.. I just knew that it was too much for me to face alone. I have been doing all I can but I need help, and it has to be someone I trust."

Meyial shook her head in stunned amazement; she, at least, had been warned that there was something unsettling ahead. She couldn't imagine how shocking it had to be to just stumble into this..."That's just awful, Darcia; I mean, it's good they're alive, but still! Ehat kind of thing would do this to innocent nikkos?" She had to turn her back on the small pup Darcia was holding; the small still form nearly turned her stomach. "I'm willing to help you, Darcia...but I need to get used to this, first." She shuddered violently, one hand still resting on the wall for support.

Darcia nodded and he carried the baby back to where he had got it, placeing it down gently with the other little ones. He had been moving them around as carefully as he could, placeing them where he could watch and care for them. "I really don't know what happened here or why, I just know that something was happening and I had to do something." He sat down grooming a small baby that was still like all the rest. It had tattered wings and a scarred body. He couldn't ignore something like that at all.

"That's understandable...what kind of stuff have you been doing? And are you going to be able to wake them up?" Although somewhat shaky of voice, Meyial turned around once more to face the room. Now that the initial shock had worn off, she could handle it...she hoped. "And why did you warn me not to be seen outside, anyway?" That question, earlier forgotten, once more returned to her mind, and she looked curiously at her companion.

Darcia closed his eyes pictureing the room around them carefully. He had the whole place mapped out now and he knew where everything, and everyone was. "I tried to wake them and it didn't work, I don't know why but I suspect it is something in the moss in the air. Perhaps too much of it causes this state to come over them all. I find that after a while I get light headed and sleepy and I need to head to the outside again."
He looked at Meyial glad that she seemed a bit more in control. She was strong, he knew he had chosen well when he decided to show her this place. "I asked you to be careful outside because, I believe that someone did this, and the last thing I want is to remind them that they had started something and hadn't finished. If they saw you or myself, they may come back."

"I see...then what's the plan regarding the moss?" Meyial looked around the room, noting for the first time the iridescant green flecks in the air. That had to be the moss that he was speaking of...although she was noticing anything at all in connection to it. Maybe she just hadn't been in here long enough, or hadn't breathed enough in or something. "Are you going to try and move these nikkos, then? If the moss is causing it, then constant exposure can't be a good thing." Stepping carefully, she moved out into the collection of still nikkos, noting the gauntness that all of them seemed to exhibit, and a more shaggy coat than was usual in lodge nikkos. Obviously these were nikkos who had to fend for themselves. Her gaze darted from one still form to another, observing that the force behind them being in here hadn't been discriminatory; young, old, male, female, strong, weak...all were represented in here.
"That makes sense...but if they'd forgotten about this place, why would they be close enough to see people entering? Wouldn't just the sight of the cave remind them?" She glanced over at Darcia; now that she was over her shock, this was starting to be a rather exciting experience. But she needed to know more...

"Hrm." With a bemused look, Kiba surveyed the narrow opening in the side of the mountain. While he'd been hoping for something of interest, he really hadn't expected to find something so soon! The white nikko tilted his head slightly as he scented the air, then blinked. Nikkos? And nikkos who'd passed by recently. But who would be out here...scenting one last time, Kiba stepped softly into the cave.

Darcia shook his head "I really don't know. I guess I have just gotten used to being as careful as possible. Why risk what can be avoided. In this case why take the chance that maybe the person hasn't forgotten but has gotten pre-occupied with something new?" He picked up a pup carrying it to the table thing at the center of the room. "This is here for a reason too. I just haven't figured it out. I know that if I put the tot where I have it.. right here.." He gestured to a metal plate on the table. "Something comes up on the screen. Sadly, I can't read so I don't know what it says."
He sighed and looked at the medical readout, and the information. Weight and several other things listed. "I don't know what it all means." He looked at Meyial and sighted. "I also think that there might be a reason that this group is here. I don't want to rush to wake them till I am sure they aren't all sick or something. What if they have some kind of illness that is being held back by the moss?"

"Better to err on the side of prudence, I suppose." Meyial walked up beside Darcia, curious as to what he was looking at. Unlike her fellow awake nikko, she could read, though. "Weight...length...state...what kind of stuff would that be needed for?" She was more used to reading accounting ledgers and household type things; so consequently, interpretting the bewildering array of terms was out of her league. The concept of moss-born illness was also alarming; those poor nikkos! What kind of cruel fiend would subject any creature to this place?

Darcia listened to her reading off what was on the screen and he frowned, looking down at the little baby and hearing what was on there made him more nervous. "So its all the information about what is going on with the child." He nudged the little one, wishing it would just do something so he knew it was well. "I'm thinking the best thing to do would be to slowly bring some of the others out of the cave and let them wake. If something bad happens to the first couple, we can leave the others alone. Maybe some of them are better in here."
He sighed and picked the child up takeing it back to where it had been on the floor. "Now you see why I asked for some help, this is a kind of adventure, but, its also now my life." As cruel as Darcia could be, he had a deep compassion inside, and he wanted to make the world paradise, he wanted to perfect things, and save things.

Meyial turned and regarded Darcia silently for a moment as he replaced the young nikko; he was certainly a far more complex creature than she had thought possible when she'd first seen him. The gruff and vicious exterior seemed to hide a softer, more understanding interior; after meeting him, she knew she'd never be able to even remotely judge by appearance alone. "That might be a good idea...although I think that the ones that come out ought to be some of the stronger looking ones." She gestured to a few nikkos who seemed to be defending the others, even frozen in plac as they were. "If something bad is goingg to happen...we don't want it to happen to one who's not prepared or capable of handling it."

Kiba had stopped shortly after entering the cave. The feeling of eyes on him had appeared out of nowhere, and he was shifting his gaze back, forward, left, right...and then finally up. He jumped in surprise at the sight of the innumerable bat creatures, all of them watching him intently. Talk about creepy...

Darcia nodded, looking over the pups and adults he carefully selected a pair. One adult and one pup. The posture and positioning of the strong male showed that if the pup was not there when it awoke there would be hell to pay. "I think these two would be best, but, I suggest you be ready to grab the baby should things go bad." He looked at the adult and blinked. "Im going to have to drag him, can you take the young one?"
He waited for a reply before starting to move the adult, freezing as he heard a faint squeaking from down the hall. "Wait, something seems to have irritated the bat nikko." He turned his head. "Uh.. I have to check it out, if I don't come back right away, wait a bit. Give me time." He left the adult nikko and started to move for the exit alone.

"I think that I can manage that, Darcia" Meyial nodded at him, picking up the small pup and wincing slightly at the coldness of its body. She had to remind herself that it was still alive...then she blinked as she too heard the squeaking. "Darcia, are you sure? It might be dangerous!" She looked around frantically, wondering if it was whoever coming back to finish what they'd started. Had she led them there?

Ok, this was just getting freaky. Kiba crouched, his ears pinned flat back against his head and a silent snarl on his lips as he watched the bat-things. If they wanted to pull anything, then darn it, he'd show them a fight, no matter how many of them there were. But at the same time, he was sidling on ahead carefully, wanting to move before the things felt like attacking.

Darcia looked around and he nodded. "Im going to be really careful, I just don't want to take you to get hurt too." He headed down the passage toward the echo chamber. He looked around, his paws moving silently over the ground, as he squirmed past stalagmites. It was hard to move around but he had to do it, something was in the cave, the bat nikko don't get wound up for nothing. He stopped again just before heading to the next room, his head up as he sniffed the air. "Who is there?"

Meyial bit her lip, but nodded her head. She glanced around the room as Darcia left, wondering what would make the best weapon...

"That depends on who's asking." Kiba kept one eye warily on the bat nikkos, not trusting them for a second. They looked like the type who's attack for no reason...but he also knew better than to blindly tell all about yourself to an unseen stranger in a mysterious cave.
