Hestio's First Recipe, pt. 1
Now that Lori was getting used to the little...thing...following her around, life had almost gone back to normal. The other occupants of her apartment hadn't learned about Hestio yet, but Lori thought perhaps that was for the best. Hestio seemed to be very possessive about the apartment, and Lori, while also seeming to despise her at the same time.
"Oh well.." Lori sighed, flopping down in one of the barstools in the kitchen. Her stomach was grumbling, but she was too lazy to do anything about it.
"Food!" Hestio huffed, his own beastly tummy growling. He was perched on the counter, eyeing her. Lori rolled her eyes at the thing, picking herself up out of the chair and rummaging through the cupboards.
"What do you want? I know how to make mac and cheese.." Lori said, turning to see the Beat rummaging through a cookbook he'd found that Lori only used for decoration.
"Food," Hestio repeated, glancing over at Lori hopefully. She sighed, knowing he wouldn't leave her alone until she tried out the recipe with the beast.
"Okay, what is it..cookies. That shouldn't be too hard."

Hestio's First Recipe, pt. 2
"Cookies, cookies..this shouldn't be too hard." Lori mumbled, reading over the recipe, Hestio bouncing on the other side of the cookbook. He cooed happily, knowing that he would finally be fed.
Unfortunately, he didn't know how bad of a cook Lori was.
The young woman peered through the oven window at the cooking cookies much later, questioning whether she had done it right. They were hard and brown on one side, and pale white on the other. That wasn't how cookies were supposed to look.
"Food?" Hestio said hopefully, bouncing up and trying to see in the oven as well.
"Uuuuh..I don't think so," Lori replied, grabbing an oven mitt and taking the pan out of the oven. "Stay back, it's hot."
Hestio glared at her as if to say, duh, I'm not that stupid, before huffing, his sign that he wanted up.
"You only want up when there's something you can't reach, then you don't want me to touch you," complained the young girl, but she still picked him up and set him on the counter. "Just stay away from the cookie pan."
Poking at the cooling cookies, Lori grimaced. They looked pretty bad. Now that Hestio looked at them, he suddenly wasn't very hungr.
"Um..why don't we order Chinese, Hestio?" asked Lori, smiling a little.
"Food!" Hestio bounced up and down, hoping that the word 'Chinese' meant food.

Hestio Meets His Siblings
Lori watched the rain falling from her bedroom window, sitting in front of the windowsill. An open book was discarded by her feet, the title reading Cooking For Dummies. She sighed absently, glancing around for Hestio. Or any of her other children and pets, for that matter. It was far too quiet in the small apartment.
"Hestio?" She called down the hall, and he came bouncing out of the kitchen.
"Food!" He said happily, burbling to himself.
Lori feared the worst with that one word. Who had been helping him cook? He couldn't do it by himself. When she hurried into the kitchen, she found her Jumi at the stove, and her Porcelain on the counter. Rinsei, the Jumi, wasn't big enough to reach the stove, so she was standing on a stool. Liwazo the Porcelain was dictating a recipe to her.
Hestio bounced over to the two of them, beaming brightly at Lori, but it seemed like more of a baring of teeth than a smile. Lori just smiled from the kitchen doorway, glad to see her children all working together so nicely. They were cooperating so well, Lori decided not to disrupt their comraderie, and slipped back into her room, still wearing a soft smile.
It seemed Hestio had an influence on more people than her in this home.
