What? I read the summary. I pick up the book if the front cover catches my attention, buy it if the back cover sounds good.

I'm not opposed to romance novels, if there's an actual plot to the story and not just 200 pages of boy meets girl, girl likes boy, they have sex, someone is betrayed. That's not a story. A story has a little more complexity to it and will spark my interest for something like the mystery of her life or something. The romance is like a sub-plot. Those are ok.

Don't like sci-fi. No reason. Just don't like it.

Stephen King. I've read a couple of his books, and have come to the conclusion that he is messed up. I don't sleep for like a week after I read them. They're just strange, and scary, and he has a sick mind. *shudders at memory of scary clown story*

I basically agree. When romance goes to high in a novel, that's when I put it down. The entire story shouldn't be dominated by the romance aspects, it's far too repetitive, for one thing.

For science fiction, yesh, that's my thoughts as well.

As for when a book gets bad, I still won't be able to put it down. No matter how horrible the book is, it could even be the most predictive novel on the planet, I have to read it to the ending. Serieses I'm not such a stickler about, and can more easilly stop in the middle of a series if I find it to be disappointing than in the middle of a book.

Ah. So you've read It. I'll agree with you to an extent- Stephen King's got an alarming talent for the macabre and demented, but not all of his books are that way. What all of them are is vulgar, which bugs me once in a while.

I tend to leave biographies and autobiographies well enough alone. I haven't found any good romance novels, because I'm a little afraid to touch there. I'm afraid that the first and only romance novel I buy or check out will be terrible.

At first I was pretty skepticals of westerns (the western/romance novels I simply will not pick up), but some of them are actually pretty good. I've always liked fantasy, and most certainly will pick up a good Forgotten Realms book (no Ebberon or Dragonlance, kthx). As far as that goes, though, I'm sticking with Elaine Cunningham.

Sci-fi... well, I guess it depends on the novel itself. You probably won't find me reading stuff with heavy sci-fi influence. Lighter, more realistic stuff is okay, though; Scott Westerfeld's newest trilogy is looking pretty good.

*claps* Yay for the Forgotten Realms series. I'll have to look into Elaine Cunningham, I guess.

I stay away from most nonfiction... It doesn't interest me. xD However, books like Jon Stewart's "America (The Book)" are always amusing. And despite being an athiest, I enjoy a good book describing religions, mythologies, and/or ancient civilizations. I'm a nerd for history, and though the extent of that nerdiness was priorly playing Civilization, I can now say that I have checked out six thick books on druids and read them all in two days. What can I say, it was kind of interesting. I'm a sucker for Ireland. Only downside is the sacrifices... yeah... that's kind of a negative... But they were quite open and respectful to people, having one of the most equal societies seen, and... *stops self from going into a druid ramble*

So yeah. No nonfiction aside from mythology or satire related books, no widely popular with the media and so on books (like Harry Potter. Everyone talks about it, so I'm not interested) and no romance or westerns. Or sci-fi. =D
