I think she meant it. He was told that she would tell him that she loved him by that ghost or whatever it was. I honestly think she meant it, because she didn't actuallly want him to do what he did. She wanted to protect him because he stood by her when everyone else turned against her. I think thats what made him love him.

I think she cared about him, but I don't think she was in love with him. At first she was completely using him just to feel anything. Then she grew to care about him, but I don't believe she ever was actually in love with him. I believe she wanted to be, however.

Ledell I think she cared about him, but I don't think she was in love with him. At first she was completely using him just to feel anything. Then she grew to care about him, but I don't believe she ever was actually in love with him. I believe she wanted to be, however. I totally agree with you. I don't think she would ever be in love with Spike the way she was with Angel.

I truly believe that she did in fact love him. For all the changes and for all they went through. She put on a great show for season 7, not jumping back to trying to have a relationship with him, but honestly think about what happened in touched and what she said after.....
"you gave me the strength to do this"
Its possible to Love different people in different ways. Theres passionate unconditional blinding true love (angel)
Then theres a love that can grow ever so gradually over time as a relationship takes different twists and turns. Things happen and people change. Love can evolve....it isn't always love at first sight.

izzygirlxp Well we do know for sure that she felt something with him cause she said she did. She also feels safe with him, and he makes her feel normal. I guess you can call that love, we know Spike loves Buffy, but then again she still loves Angel... GOD DAMN YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND! domokun Yeah I agree with that. She did love Spike you could tell but yet I don't think she loved him as much ad she loved Angel....? *confused*

Buffy loved Spike in her own way. I understand why Spike didn't agree with her though. But she did love him maybe not in every way yet.

I think Spike believed that even with her saying she loved him. I think he knew that her heart would always belong to Angel and there was nothing he could do about it, so that's why he turned her away at the last episode at the end.

hmmm i have had this arguement time and time again..I think Buffy loved him but was scared of losing Spike because her dad left her and then she told angel she loved him and he left her then riley so she had a barrer up then her mom died and then she died so this emotional barrer had gone up and spike made her 'feel' because he loved her unconditionaly and she said she loved him because she didn't want him to die not knowing it and he only said 'no you don't but thanks for saying it' because he wanted her out of the hellmouth and to live he even said when he first arrived Quote: SPIKE: Wanna see her... I agree with you somewhat. Yes she did lose a lot of people in her life and she probably did put up an emoitional barrier, but if you remember the epsiode Enemies in season three, Angel says,"You still my girl?" and Buffy replies, "Always."
Which kind of tells you that Angel will always own a piece of her heart and Spike I think knew that. That's why at the end of season 7 he tries to push her away because he doesn't want her to wind up dying inside again.

Angel loves Cordy but can no longer be with her. (Reaosn she's dead.)
Buffy loves Spike but knows that they can't a relationship as does Spike. That's why he lets her go.
That's why she says she doesn't think she's supposed to have a guy.

i think buffy truly loved angel, spike, and riley (those were her 3 main guys) but all in different ways. her thing with angel was real love bcuz it lasted forever and even after they both moved on, they were still special to each other.
riley would've lasted if it hadnt turned out he was a total weirdo what with the vampire girl getting blood from him and his whole thing with the initiative. so buffy liked him a lot but he left so that was over.
her thing with spike was the closest thing to angel she could get so yes it was love but kinda diff than w. angel. see her and spike were enemies so it was hard for that sudden change to come around. but afterwards, especially season 7 when he had her back when no one else did, she started to love him. and it was proof when she didnt kill him through all the seasons and especially when he started killing girls in (7x08 sleeper).

I think that Buffy loved all the men in her life in different ways.
With Spike I don't think that she was IN love with him but I think that she cared for him. neutral
