Wrote this a little while ago...Please tell me what you think, be truthful. I wish to become a writer when I grow up.

Genre(s): Horror, Fantasy
Title: Shadows and Tea

+=+

Once long ago, in a land that no longer exists, lived a boy and a girl who were twins. The twins loved each other dearly and never left each others side. They'd play together, bathe together, sleep together...well, you get the idea. At school they were rather rambunctious as most children are, but at home, they were as sweet as treats. They did exactly as they were told and made sure to stay out of the way of the grown-ups. When they weren't helping mother in the kitchen, they were bringing soup and comfort to the elders, who, had no family of their own. Oh yes, the twins were a dream.

One warm summer night, when the twins were about four or five, their father took them out back to the lake that was about fifty paces away, depending on the persons stride. Fireflies danced around the lake, admiring their reflection in the undisturbed water. With wide eyes the twins sat and watched the little lost stars. Their Father smiled down at them. Then, after telling them he'd just be in the house, turned and left. Gripping each others hand tight, the twins watched in wonder.

"Do you think they have twins too, dear brother?" Asked the little girl as she finally tore her dark eyes away from the little rays of hope and turned her undivided attention to the boy beside her.

"They all look the same so I suppose so, dear sister." Said the little boy, keeping his eyes on the fireflies.

Snap.

The twins quickly looked to the forest that lay beside the lake. "Brother," Squeaked the girl, "What was that?"

"I don't know dear sister." He replied as he stood. "But I'm going to find out."

"Don't leave without me!" The girl whimpered as she quickly got to her feet and tightened her grip on her brother’s pale hand.

The boy turned and smiled to her. "I won’t Sister. I promise."

And so the two wondered into the forest, not noticing that the fireflies had disappeared just moments before the snap sounded.

Snap. Crack.

"Brother...” The girl whimpered as she closed the gap between the two small bodies.

"Don't worry sister. I won’t let anything hurt you." He told her. Suddenly, a shadow stopped the twins in their path.

"Excuse us dear Shadow." Said the girl softly. "Come along brother, we should leave..."

"No, no." Cooed the Shadow as he looked down to them with sad eyes. "Please stay. It is not often I get visitors. Please, come along with me and I shall make you some tea."

Feeling bad for the lonely ol' Shadow, the twins followed along until they reached a simple little hut made out of twigs and dry leaves.

"Please excuse the mess.” Cooed the Shadow as he cleared off the tiny table and sat upon a stool. The twins sat beside one another then gasped as a black teakettle seemed to appear out of nowhere. "I hope you don't mind chamomile tea." Then twins shook their heads slowly then once again gasped as they watched. Small shadows quickly formed two tea cups on small saucers. "Please, help yourself." The twins smiled and quickly gripped the tea cups, sipping the sweet tea, smelling the sweet comforting warmth. The Shadow watched silently as the twins sipped the tea.

"Now tell me dear children." The Shadow finally spoke. "What had urged you to wander into the forest? Which I'm sure your mother and father have told you is bad."

"Well dear Shadow," Began the boy. "We heard a snap. Like a twig or something of the like."

"Ahh, I see. But hasn't anyone told you Curiosity Killed the Cat?" Asked the Shadow as he wagged a finger.

"With all do respect, kind Shadow, Curiosity Killed the Cat," Began the girl. "But Satisfaction brought him back."

The Shadow chuckled softly. "I see...So tell me dear Children, have you found your satisfaction?"

The twins glanced to each other then looked to the shadow. "No dear Shadow. We fear not." They said in unison, causing the Shadow to chuckle once again.

"I see...Oh, it seems to be getting very late...You two may spend the night," Said the Shadow then he motioned towards the back of the hut. "Over there." As if by magic, a large bed that would hold twenty or thirty children of their size appeared in the far corner, its warm blankets and pillows calling to the twins.

"Thank you dear Shadow. If there is anything we can do to repay you-" Said the girl, only to be cut off by the Shadow.

"You both have done enough by spending time with a lonely old Shadow." He told them then stood. "I shall wake you when the time comes to be woken..." And with that, the shadow was gone. Without a second thought the twins climbed into the bed and let sleep quickly take over them.

Sister...Sister help....

Slowly the big eyes of the girl opened. When she realized she was no longer with her brother and no longer in the hut but in the forest, she quickly sat up and looked around. "Brother?" She called out. "Brother where are you?!" As she scrambled to her feet she tried to remember all that had happened the day before. "Shadow? Dear Shadow please help!" She called out but only got silence in return. She began to run as fast as her tiny legs could carry her towards what she thought was her home. She ran from day until night, night until day. On the third lonely sunrise the girl was resting beside a small pool of cool water, staring into her dirty reflection. It was then she realized the so called “dear Shadow” had taken her brother, but why? Where? How? Oh so many questions and horrifying thoughts ran through the little girl’s mind causing sorrow filled tears to stream down her dirty face, leaving clean lines in their wake. She knew, though, that she could not just sit and cry. She had to get back and find her brother some help.

Finally, she made it home. Her family asked her where she had been, what happened and where her brother was. In a small, shaky voice the girl answered but no one believed her. There was no shadow man in the forest, no hut made from twigs and no tea.

So on went the years, the poor girl hardly got any sleep for every time she'd close her eyes as she laid down upon her bed, she'd see the sad face of her brother and hear him whisper, Sister...Sister help

On the girl’s fifteenth birthday, instead of having a party, she set off into the forest with her head held high and her mind locked on that shadow. As she held tight to the handle of the bow which her father had made for her brother when he was to get older, she tried to remember all that had happened on that warm summer night. Heavy bags that told of sleepless nights were under her dark eyes but she had grown accustomed to the lack of sleep, finding other ways to get the energy and rest her body needed. Suddenly, she stopped, slowly looking around her. This place seemed familiar. Was it when she was with her brother or when she was lost? Using the point of one of the arrows, she made a large X in the tree so she could find her way back home.

For hours and hours the girl wondered, never stopping for rest, food or even water. Her eyes were held straight ahead, no expression ever crossed her face. Once more she stopped and took a deep breath of air through her nose. What was that scent? ...It was…Chamomile tea! Just as fresh and comforting as the day she met the shadow. Turning on her heels she ran as fast as she could to the scent. She slid to a stop when she saw something that was all too familiar. The small hut made from dried leaves and twigs. A low growl escaped her throat as she walked up to it, putting an arrow in place on her bow.

“Dear Shadow…” She called out in a soft, childish, almost mocking voice. “Oh dear Shadow…” No answer came. The air was heavy, silent and tasted sickly sweet. The girl wanted to hurl, she was so nervous.

Snap.

The girl whirled around and shot an arrow towards the sound. It flew quick and true, only to end up in a tree. Silently she cursed then placed another arrow to the bow. Again the silence settled down to her, making her shiver. Suddenly, as an anger rose in the girl, she shouted “What have you done with my brother?!” Her sorrow and anger filled shriek echoed quickly through the forest, causing birds to quickly take to the air, afraid of the unseen invader. When the echo finally died away, the girl stood there, shaking with anger as a hot tear rolled down her sickly pale cheek. “Where is he?” She hissed under her breath.

Sister... Said the wind. Run... It screamed ever so softly, a gossamer whisper; she wanted to cry but also to laugh at the same time, for her hysteria was that great.

Without a second thought she ran. Following the marks on the trees, she quickly made it home. She fell to her knees in front of the lake and began to sob. Why had the shadow taken her brother? Why did he take them both? Why didn't he take someone else’s brother or someone that didn't matter to the world? Why? As these thoughts ran through the quivering girl's shadowed mind, hot uncomfortable tears streamed down her face leaving a clean trail. And so, after gathering herself and willing herself to move, she slowly stood and slowly made her way into her lonely, family filled home.

Without her twin she was incomplete. A puzzle without half the pieces one might say. Everyday was like torture to her but she forced herself to live hoping, praying, wishing that her brother would return home with a smile on his precious moon-shaped face. He'd gather her in his arms and say, “I promised I wouldn't live you behind.” But sadly, her dream didn't come true. Still, that little ray of hope shone from her heart, willing her to wake with the sun.

The girl grew like the others but unlike the others, she did not marry nor have kids of her own. When her parents died, they left the house, the lake and a portion of the forest in her care. Every night, the girl would sit out at the lake, waiting for her brother. Sadly, just a few years later, the girl died with a heavy heart. It is said, that if you walk into the forest and stand very still and very quiet, you can still hear the little boys cry. Sister...Sister help... And it is said, that if you look closely, you can see the little hut made of twigs and dried leaves and see the shadow standing out side it, motioning for you to join him for tea. And still it is said, that if you walk to the lake, on a warm summer night when the fireflies admire their reflection in the undisturbed water, you can see the young girl waiting for her dear brother to return home.

Walking down a cold street wearing a green t-shirt, a pair of blue jeans, and flip flops. His long golden hair flowed easily a street light illuminated his sapphire eyes every now and then. He walked alone which was usually his fate never knowing how to fix the pain he usually felt. with every sapphire glint there was a hint of sadness that no one could fix, for he traveled a lot helping people and fighting off monsters the only catch to it was that he never got as much as a thank you. Now he didn’t really need rewards he was quite content with having a job to make his money but he did put his life on the line everyday for people he didn't know he was assigned charges to protect. But tonight he refused any charges he was given orders through a cell phone connected to a blue tooth device. But he had turned the sounds off no one could contact him and he rather liked it that way. only being 18 and all bobby had been saving his world and beyond for 13 years granted he's had some help along the way it started off with a spirit in habiting his body until about 11 named Al. This was how bobby found out about the guardian force which was an extremely powerful force which traveled through the universe and fought terrible darkness. While the position came with perks such as telepathy, telekinesis, healing and shimmering are all daily uses but inevitable pain and sadness will always follow whether or not any guardian will tell you. The guardian picks the person not the other way around so when you became a guardian you had to serve your term which was at least 10 yrs if you survived that long then you could pass it on to the next guardian at any time you so desired. but the case had not been applicable to bobby for the simple fact one he was the greatest guardian who by all intents and purposes had served more than 10 he remains unable to transfer the power because of the level of power expansion there is now way he would survive the power transfusion his soul would be obliterated. so many allies yet so many more enemies he took care of them with ease but had never understood how weak he actually was he lost and fouled up quite a bit and yet he managed to beat every foe that he faced in a death match. Unfortunately there were alot of demons, vampires, crazies, and many other foes that he has allowed to live and some have returned but they promise to stay out of his way and that’s all that matters to him. Then a siren went off in his ear from the blue tooth it was the emergency ring which was only activated when it was a dire emergency it was under no circumstances to be abused by using it to find him or any other unnecessary reasons. He pushed his hair away from his ear and pushed the blue flashing button.
"Yeah", he said in a cold voice.
"Where are you? We've been looking for you all night what's going on?", a feminine voice spoke sounding irritated.
"I just need the details of what’s up that's all I have no intention of explaining myself." Bobby again said still sounding cold
"Fine there is a mid level demon heading your way we think it may be the one you were hunting. There's something we think he may be able to mask his power level to prevent detection going as low level demons, or no power out put at all.", was the reply by the feminine voice now sounding angry that he had gotten snippy.
"Ok, ill check it out and Sam im fine." He said as he terminated the call not giving her time to reply. If that monster that he's been fighting for six months now off and on was really on his way it was time to get ready. This demon fit the tall dark and hansom disguise and it made him hard to track. But he had hurt some one bobby cared about and now bobby was gonna give him hell for it the guy would be lucky if he survived another six months.
“ Who’d of thought that they’d let you get caught alone”, said a harsh voice full of anger His black hair waving in the wind. He wore a white cloak that flowed off of his body his grey eyes never once shifted their gaze from bobby.
“ I don’t need help from any one to destroy you. Even while im not armed”, he said in an icy tone suddenly remembering that his swords were at home and that that was about an hour away so he would have to rely on his powers to get the job done.
The black haired man had a goatee and short hair most any one would stop at the chance to date him but all the same he was a twisted son of a b***h. He was the reason bobby was so upset right now. About three years ago this demon started by murdering his grand parents and then tried to kill one of his best friends. And just last month he had manipulated another friend in coming after the two swords he had called the twin swords one called the heaven sword and the other called the doom sword, His friend pushed bobby so far that he actually killed him to protect the swords. He hated every minute of what he had to do but he did it because if he didn’t no one else would and the world would end up being over run by monsters. So effortlessly bobby lept up to the guy dressed in white and right hooked him in the jaw. The man drew a sword and slashed but bobby dodged by backflipping in to the wall and launching back at the man tackling him to the ground and started pummeling his right jaw. He pummeled until tears started streaming out of his eyes of solid pain the silver blood of emotion flowed down his cheeks damping the ground. But the sorrow was only momentary when bobby’s powers became unstable and turned in to a pillar of guardian energy. Light, Dark, Psychic, Gold, Angel, and Dragon Energy Spewing out of the energy star that bobby had be come. He was trying to get a grip on his powers that could puncture the atmosphere and destroy the world by accident. But the man in white had not moved though very impressed by the immensely powerful light show in the form of a deadly column in the sky now. He wondered how long before bobby forced that energy into the ground.
