They ganged up on me and made me join (there are three of them on here)! I thought it would be dumb, but then I kind of got into it, you could say! There are some forums dedicated to adults but I had a not-so-great experience with one of those. And some of the kids on TLS are far more articulate and entertaining than many of the adults, so I see no point to excluding them.

I was just thinking about another one of my culinary mishaps. My friends and I tried to make caramel once. It did not end well. We thought all we had to do was melt sugar in a pan. We ended up with burnt melted sugar. I brought it over to the sink and said "quick, give me something to pour it in," and was handed a plastic cup. The sugar melted right through the cup and hardened in the sink, clogging the drain. DemiImp came to the recue though, cleaning the drain and telling us what we did wrong!

How DO you make caramel, anyway? Do you have to put milk in it or something?

Yeah, milk and some other stuff. The version DemiImp helped us make was ok, but it was kinda just chewy sugar. I'll find a recipe, try it and post!

Once, not so very long ago, I was making "boil in bag" rice, and I accidentally touched the bag to the side of the hot pot, missing the water. The bag promptly melted to the metal of the pot ... yech, what a mess! We ate it anyway, but had to pick bits of melted bag out of the rice.
