Saiyuki_Nesi They're not daggers, they're scalpels (you know the ones the doctors use, thus "Dr." Jackal)... It is believed that his other name stands for the egyptian Jackal god of death, Anubis. His techniques are Bloody Rain (first used on Ginji to get the platinum melon), Bloody Sword (used this one several times), Bloody Stream (he used this on Ban during the retrieval of the arms of the Venus de Milo), Bloody Cross (used this one on Kagami, very entertaining) and Bloody Hurricane(also used this one on Ban when they were on a mission to get the Venus de Milo) have I left out anything? smile I just love Akabane. He's the best transporter in the business. I wouldn't mind him "transporting" me to school everyday... rofl here's something to start a conversation, what is the tattoo on Akabane's arm??? They focused on it during his fight with Ban during the time they were at the island where there was supposed to be an auction for the Venus de Milo made purely of Aphrodite. and what is the meaning of all his wounds all over his body? They can't be from the scalpels I assure you. neutral Just reading your post and i'd love to discuss some of the points your brought up. I read somewhere that the 'Dr. Jackal' was because 1. the scalpels and the fact that he was once perhaps a real doctor and 2. this is just a theory of course the 'Jack' part in 'Jackal' refers to that maybe he is the long lost 'Jack the Ripper.' Being that 'Jack the Ripper' was never caught. Keep in mind that these are only theories. Now the tatto is a mystery to me, however the wounds on his body i am perhaps able to shed some light of that subject. The wounds on the palms of his hands are in the place where his scalpels how out when he's fighting, so i think that's a possibility of why they're there. Also he mentions in the manga that 'anything that mixes with my blood becomes my weapon' now if whatever caused the really big scar of his chest is a result from surgery then that might explain the origin of his scalpels. Being that scalpels are used by doctors in sugery. Again these are only my theories, anyone like to continue a discussion along these lines?

I've read somewhere that it was possible that in the past he was a doctor in war and that his current attitude was an effect of not being able to save a boy's life. At least that's what I read.

Akabane a interesting character in GB, what I like to know is his full-potential of his powers, he almost reveal it in his fight with Ban but held back.

I think Akabane's a masochist, both to himself and to others. That's not entirely a bad thing--in my book... So, I think he enjoys feeling the pain and inflicting.
Got to love murderous boys with awesome hats.
