Hrm... IMHO the english dub of Slayers is one of the best Anime-Dubs I got to hear...

You´guys have ABSOLUTELY no idea what they did to the series when they decided to rape it for german TV... =~=;

Spells sounding like Pokemon-Attacks and Lina got degraded to be **a witch of light that uses her witch-powers to help the poor**...
... ... ...
*sigh*
...names got translated wrong, almost all jokes gone, terrible actors as always...

After taking a very short look into the german version I went to hug my DVDs and the VHS with the english dub... ninja
Never... NEVER do i wish to have to hear Slayers in german EVER AGAIN!!

...even though one has to praise them for NOT(!!!) replacing the opening with some selfmade children-song as they did with every other Anime... u_u

Just take a quick look at the german Naruto-Opening...

Interesting thing... In an interview they got asked, why they didn't let the japanese opening... Answer: "The little kids do not understand japanese."
Hrm... well... But seemingly german kids understand english quite good...
... ... ...
...i don't think so... ==;

But that's germany and Anime... Such a shame they got their claws on Slayers...

P.s.: German Slayers-Opening...

The song is as said the original... But you're getting a slight idea of the crow they got for poor Lina-San...

Well, I really liked the English voice for Lina, it really suited her personality. Other than that, I've only heard their voices in Japanese, but (naturally) they all suit the character perfectly. Tho', I haven't heard Naga's voice in Japanese, her English voice suits her fine. Not many people can laugh like that and make it sound natural. ^_^;

I'll probably get jumped for saying this, but I liked David Moo's dubbing. Typically I like the original Japanese voice actors, but Xellos had a very typical male Japanese voice in the original anime. I admit that the first time you hear Moo's voice emit from Xellos' character the first reaction is as though you've been poked in the butt, however, I think it added some unique mischievousness to his emotions and made the arguments with Filia feel more juvenile, which I think is what they were going for. If anyting Gourry took a hit, and lost his "Serious and Crazy" personality by being made to sound like the stoner "Brock" from Pokemon. blaugh

Lisa Ortiz does a reasonable job as Lina, she at least tries to give us some of what Hayashibura-san put into the character, including the annoying squeak(yes it's supposed to be there...). Cynthia Martineze ruined the movies so badly by making Lina sound like an airhead on speed that I'd rather have anyone else do a new voice over, even David Moo...

Crispin Freeman as Zel is a rare good match.

And as for me, Kawamura-sama blows Kelly Madison away anyday, especiall in the laugh...
