Look into a window-box or a doorway planter. Not perfect, but better than living in such a plantless environment.

... I get the feeling that English Ivy is forbidden for a reason. XD That stuff takes EVERYTHING over. Although I think I shall plant some, alongside Convolvulaceae Ipomoeae, to make a lovely gazebo cover. And maybe a touch of honeysuckle. heart

i cant grow much of eany thing hear in utah but catmint and lots of it but i cant grow eany because i have dogs that like to dig holes in the yard especaly whare there are plants and i have cats that eat almost any plant.

i shall be getting some growing space soon! xd
i told my Mum i wanted a 3 tier plant stand for Christmas, so i can put it in my kitchen window, the window is a large bay, the main window being around a metre across, and starts only 18 inches from the floor, i live on the first floor(2nd floor for you americans) but because the base of the window is low, people on the other side of the road can see in, and when a double decker bus is sitting in traffic outside the whole top deck can peer in my window at their leisure gonk
so i shall put a stop to that twisted plus, having something like that in the window will mean that i can open both curtains, right now i feel too exposed with both drawn back because of the size of the window ninja

depends on what plants i see in the spring. i'm definitely going to propagate some ginger as i mentioned in another post somewhere, herbs would be good of course, basil, sage and coriander because i love how they smell(especially sage) and chilis blaugh
all depends on how things grow indoors really, it is a huge window, but it faces due east, with a 3 story building over the road, so it doesn't get a great deal of sunlight, and the kitchen is an icebox in the winter, mainly because of the size of the window! plus it's over an archway so it's not protected from the cold by a lower room.
i shall be swiping some rosemary from my Mum again i think, and some of her lemonbalm if it survives the winter, i don't suppose there would be much point taking a cutting from it at this time of the year.
AND, the supermarkets all have pots of hyacinths around Christmastime, would be lovely to have some of those as they smell so gorgeous, plus once they've flowers, and can replant them in a trough so they'll come up again next year blaugh
i'm getting rediculously excited about this rolleyes i have so little space for plants though, the ones i have tend to suffer a little as i have to shift furniture to get to the windowsill neutral but i want more green in my flat!

does anyone have any suggestions for a hot, bright windowsill? my downstairs loo faces west, the only room in the place that gets good sun is the toilet rolleyes but i'm afraid to try and make use of it because things are likely to get scorched, it's a good sized sill too, 1 metre long by 34 cms deep, so it could hold something substantial, this room again is over the arch though, with a big, draughty sash window, temperature drops down to freezing in the winter gonk

there's no electrical outlets in the downstairs loo, with it being rented the barest minimum has been done in respect to things like that, i only have 4 sockets in my living room, and they're all on one wall rolleyes
anyway, i think i could put a long planter on that sill, maybe plant it up with some exotic annuals that can take the direct sunlight(temp registered at over 100 degrees on that windowsill during July of this year) and have some bulbs in it too to cheer me up during the Spring 3nodding
and maybe'plant'Christmas decorations in it over the winter ninja
