I was already yearning to come back here before Discord did what they did, but seeing everyone talk about it again, especially in the vtuber space, got me so excited!

I didn't sleep well at all last night so I'm heading off early to hopefully get some better rest. Tomorrow before my stream I'm gonna start collecting together a bunch of streaming resources I have for the resources page, update the Useful Links section, and make a call for volunteer moderators.
So much yet to do, that will get done in time~

Hey all! I never actually played Gaia too much back in the day, I played a little bit of pretty much every social MMO so I wasn't really committed to any, this one included, but honestly I'm having fun on this new account so I'm definitely gonna keep this one in rotation I think.
I'd love to do stuff in game with y'all some time if anyone is interested in that. I know this has a world, although I haven't explored it that much, but I figured that might be fun to hang out in?
Either way, looking forward to chatting and getting to know y'all more over time. To introduce myself, I'm a vtuber who likes to specialize in nostalgia and indie stuff, as well as old web stuff, and I love dress up games, so this game is right up my alley lol.

Furbisms Hey all! what other MMOs did you play? ik maplestory was big around the same time but i never actually tried to get into it, i just watched the random AMVs on youtube cat_sweatdrop
i dont know how much there is to do on gaia atm with others, other than hanging out in Rally or maybe playing zOMG but i'd be up for it sometime!

Sooo many of the web based ones, many of which don't exist any more... Club penguin, panfu, pandanda, handipoints handiland, petpet park, sifaka world, yoville, etc etc I probably can't list them all lol. Alongside web vpet games like dragon cave, chicken smoothie, neopets, and gpx+ mainly. I am still a fiend for web vpet games to be honest. I want to make a masterlist of them but just haven't had the time and the sheer amount of research and time that went into my social mmo/virtual world masterlist makes me cringe at the idea of doing it again LOL but it's for the greater good!
I still need to figure out how rally works, it looks interesting!

Happy to see Gaiaonline coming back to life! Been wanting to use this site for social reasons, I mostly dress up and shape-shift before the whole discord thing happened!
I was on here from 2008-2014, but was more shy way back in the day! Now hoping stuff like towns and zomg works well again!
Feels like we are going old school with social media and if its here,mI am here for it!

I'm glad to see older social media platforms come back to life. It's actually been a trend these days since a lot of Gen Z people are trying to go more retro.
I'm still quite shy myself, but I feel like forums are less overwhelming compared to the speed of a Discord. Forums feel like sending letters to people which I enjoy. It's a bonus to also dress-up and try new fits here.
As for older games and media, I mostly played Mabinogi and Neopets. I used to play on Maplestory but I get weird interactions there so I stuck with Mabinogi. I still hop on there occasionally, but I also got into FFXIV.
What do you all hope to get out of Gaia Online?

I think come out of my bubble more, and experience Gaia like I wished back in the day! Also the dress up feature is a god send! 4laugh Also the analog movement is really picking up cause ngl some things now just ain't it! Oh boy, Mabinogi is a hell of a thing to do a one-shot for. I tried getting into it several years ago and got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content. I wish you the best of luck with that lmao

I genuinely hope it becomes more than just a trend, and people stick around with the more retro options even when they're a little more inconvenient at times. I want this to be a more lasting movement towards owning the things we purchase, and intentionally slowing down life a bit so goddamn much.

I missed the social aspect of Gaia so much. I was in a long-running Sailor Moon roleplaying guild from 2006 until about 2015 when the site was most actively dying. It made me so sad to leave. crying I actually turned my Gaia avatar into a redeemable PNGtuber sometime last year but I'm tiny so I don't think I'm affecting interest in the site much. sweatdrop
