『••✎••』Rian grimaced as Benjamin spat out some blood, leaning back slightly so none would accidentally get on his face. His grimace deepened as the boy then proclaimed him a prat which actually amused him slightly since really? That's the best he could come up with? (After thinking about it, the boy had just gotten pummeled so it's possible that was the best he could do.) He was just getting his bearings again to get off the other teen when a loud shout had him stop all movements and turn towards the source. Rian wasn't able to keep in the groan that escaped him at the sight of Meallan, he'd completely forgotten the older boy was not only a prefect but Head Student this year. Just his rotten luck.
The Slytherin had taken great pains in avoiding that entire family since his little misunderstanding with Bryn their first year, especially the older ones. As he climbed off Benjamin and tried to straighten his clothing, he heard Tsia recount the last few moments, more than exasperated by her stammering and tears, before finally turning to face Meallan. He twitched lightly at the declaration of a detention but for once, he didn't say anything. Rian knew it had to look pretty damning with the state the other boy was in, so he decided to reserve all acting for his head of house.
He barely restrained a snort at the older teen expressed that if either one of them disagreed with his terms he'd be taking them to the Headmaster's office, actually crossing his arms as if to dare the thought, which might've been intimidating if he were three inches shorter. As it were, being able to actually look the prefect in the eyes while being dressed down sort of ruined the whole thing for him. "Understood." Rian finally got out, raising a hand to massage his jaw slightly. This wasn't even an act, it seriously ached from the force of his clenching in the past few minutes. Ugh, if he thought it'd be worth something he'd send Benjamin his dental bill.
Now shut your dirty mouth If I could burn this town I wouldn't hesitate To smile while you suffocate and die And that would be just fine And what a lovely time, that it would surely be

When he heard someone else's voice in the student lounge, Benji looked over to see none other than Head Student Meallan Heulwen. Well, he was a welcome sight to at least put a stop to what Benji had started. Hearing Tsia say the fight was her fault though hurt Benji's heart. It wasn't like what she was saying at all. "It dwas bmy fault," Benji admitted, his voice a little distorted by the broken nose. He was asked if a healer needed to be summoned or if he could walk and Benji pushed himself up to his feet. "I can walk." A few hits to the face weren't that new to him, since Olivia liked to rough house a lot when they were younger, but it was the injury to his pride that hurt the most. Tsia wasn't going to feel like her honor was defended if he got beaten up. He was supposed to be standing up to the bully, not getting pulverized by him. Wiping his bloody nose on his sleeve, he pulled out some tissues and wadded them up to stick in his nose. Then, without looking towards Rian, he stepped out of the lounge. Idly, he wished that Tsia would come with him, but he doubted it. He'd failed her and the poor girl was still crying. Benji longed to make her stop crying because the sound of it practically killed him.

While the boys fought, Tsia panicked. She hadn't expected any of this to happen! She didn't want anyone to be upset, much let actually injured. She cried out in fright when Rian started punching Benji, but thankfully a much louder voice stopped the fighting cold in its tracks. She looked over to see the Head Student there, looking somehow more disappointed than angry. He asked her to explain what happened, and she struggled through the words. She looked nervous when Meallan gave both Benji and Rian detention, plus a pretty big loss of house points. That would go a long way to making other people upset too. And suddenly she felt even worse for thinking that her dumb little secret was important enough to be shared. Rian was right, there were people with way worse struggles than hers.
Benji said it was his fault, and she shook her head. "No, it was mine. I'm really sorry. We'll get it all sorted, don't worry." Benji sounded pretty rough, but he said he could walk himself to the hospital wing. "Tsia, can you make sure he gets to the Hospital Wing, please? I'll escort Rian back down to Professor Drage's office for their talk. Then I'll walk back up to meet Benji at the Hospital Wing and take him to Professor Drage -the other one's- office. Good thing I'm not busy today," The last part was added in a mumble, but it made Tsia frown further. All because of her stupid choice, both her friends were in trouble. Well... her friend.... what was she supposed to classify Rian as? She would have to ask Roxie for help, especially because it felt like her heart was a broken pile of scraps now. She sighed heavily, and nodded at the Head Student, who was still awaiting a response. "Of course. I'll.... make sure he waits for you."
She walked past Rian, sending him a look that betrayed every bit of her heartbreak and confusion. Had he ever given her clues that he didn't really like her? Any hint that he thought she was just a waste of time? Pushing past the boys into the hallway, the blonde hurried after the Ravenclaw. "Benji, wait up," she called after him. "I got told to walk with you.... b-but truth is, I'd want to anyway. I want to thank you. Not many other people would've gotten into a real, actual fight just for me. But you did, and I really appreciate it. Now, let's go get you fixed up.... b-but then you have to wait to be walked to detention."
Bren dramatically blew out her lips in a heavy trill. She was splayed out on a plush rug in front of the fireplace. “How on earth is it winter again?” She asked with a groan. She was sick of it.
Luke looked over from the couch where he and Amelia sat with a bemused look on his face. “You know that we’re from Boston, right? We didn’t come here from, like, LA or something. You should be used to the snow.”
“Doesn’t mean I have to like it,” she muttered, flipping on her side so her face was toward the fireplace. She heard her brother chuckle under his breath. She turned her head as much to him as she could before blowing a raspberry.
Atticus, who was sitting cross-legged next to her on the rug, looked up from the book he was reading. “It doesn’t snow much in Ireland. It’s a bit dreary, sure, but this is the UK. Everywhere is dreary." He shrugged.
“Maybe I’ll come live with you," Bren replied, once again flipping, this time over to her stomach. She laid her chin on her fists, staring at her friend.
He smiled. "Um, not sure there's room. If you're going through the trouble of moving, might as well go to Spain or something."
