And here we go again, Virtuoso, though Fema did a horrible job, and got what was comming to them from the BUsh administration, let me make one thing clear, it is the LOCAL gov. that is responsible for Pre operations, that means preparing and evacuating, and it is the Federal gov., to provide assistance when asked and/or post disaster, NEVER are they allowed; it is an un written rule bassically because it would be like slapping the State gov in the face telling them they can't run there own place, when we obvously saw here., they couldn't.

No no no no no. You do not let Bush off the hook for appointing an incompetent head to FEMA. FEMA was part and parcel of the administration.

Not to mention that Kathleen Blanco warned the Federal Government about the fragility of the city before the storm hit, and then declared a state of emergency before the levies broke, warning them of the damage and begging them for help. Then we take into account that, as his defense, Bush said, "No one could have anticipated this." What's that, Mr. Bush? You want another 20% drop in approval ratings? Here you go! Bush is doing good. The only reason people are mad with him is because of the war. The war was for the best but honestly I think it's taking way too long.

Lady Merewyn liz_bliz Actually, because of Baby boomers still in their prime earning rates, we have quite the SS surplus. BUT where is that surplus going? Might it be going to pay off the nation debt? no. Maybe some fund to save for when we have a SS deficit? no. But where then? Oh yeah, Iraq. (not afganistan, Iraq-only) As for Bush's speaking skills: Little know fact, Bush is actually a very skilled public speaker, and rarely stutters, mispronounces words or is got off guard.........he just know Chuck Norris is watching. makes him nervous as all hell. XP Lol, being a connoisseur of speeches and orations, I can definately say that Bush is terrible. I've judged seventh and eight graders at speech competitions who do better than he does. Bush's debating is terrible as well, his logic is flawed, and he has a certain tendency to base his decisions on false premises and/or contradict himself. Sad really. And a good public speaker can speak eloquently no matter who may be watching. Throughout epic literature, for centuries, one of the fundamental qualities of a good leader has been speaking skills. The art of rhetoric seems to have been lost in modern times. Well obviously ma'm, you've never had Chuck Norris starring you down........he makes the ring nice and fluffy! Seriously though, yeah, he sucks at speaking.

liz_bliz how do you do that? the AEther thing, but witht he letters together? i got it kind half way their Character Map, one of the standard features of Windows since '95. Should be under "system tools" or somesuch. I personally use an upgraded version with Arabic/Greek/Hebrew alphabets, along with a expanded list of symbols. But that's just how I roll. cool

"Who does this guy think he is, some kinda dictator? It's supposed to be the governor and the mayor who take care of this stuff." The governor and mayor turned out to be incompetant, Bush came in late and the media was all over him for that. "It's not the governor's job to do this, where was the President?" Darned if you do darned if you don't.
