The youngling’s smile quickly turned into a frown of worry. Finishing the last bite of fruit he scooted his stool closer to his Makuahine so that he could lean against her arm. “It does, thank you.” He murmured before simply sitting next to Ami for a moment in silence as if honoring the memory. After a few moments the youngling shifted, obviously pondering something before finally talking again. “Would it be okay if I studied music a bit? I’d like to hear you play the harp.”

Ami blinked in surprise at the question before giving her son a soft smile and nodding. “That would be fine by me.” She whispered before reaching an arm around Zoicite and hugging him. “We can go find my harp and I’ll have to clean it up a bit before playing. We also don’t want to wake your sister.”

“Aww.” Zoicite made a face before looking towards the nursery and finally nodding. “That’s fine…I suppose.” He relented after a moment of thought. At least he could get his Makuahine to bring out her instrument. Another squeeze for a hug and then he scooted off of the stool, waiting for his Makuahine to follow him towards the storage room at the back of their home.

A soft chuckle escaped her lips as Ami joined Zoicite. Ruffling his hair, the Kawena started down the hallway and made certain to only peek into the nursery towards her sleeping daughter before continuing on. A quiet swing of the door, trying to avoid any unnecessary noise, and then Ami led the way into the storage room past several chests and shelves. Carefully nestled in the back was the harp, the silvery wood from Kahi shimmering in the faint rays of light now that the sun was coming back with the fading storm. A gentle pluck of the strings proved that the harp needed some tuning but Ami held it up towards Zoicite. “I’ve had this forever.” She offered the harp towards him. “Just be careful with it. I’ll tune it when you’re done looking over the harp.” It was strange offering the instrument to her son, but at the same time it felt right to see him holding such a treasured instrument. The whole conversation had been completely unexpected but a weight seemingly had been lifted from her shoulders, her heart lighter now that she watched her own son happily carry the name that meant so much to Nanami.

“Okay.” Zoicite smiled towards his Makuahine as he took the harp and twisted it in his hands. He would treasure the moment and looked forward to listening to her play the instrument whenever the time came. Then maybe one day he would also learn how to play the instrument if not many more. Music had always calmed him despite his fiery temper, the youngling loving most melodies especially any played by his Makuahine and that reminded him of the ocean.
