"Snorkel. That's a funny word," Dash chuckled. "I like it." He listened to the results of Kanja's research. He was working through the problem of oxygen for the swimmer. Frankly, Dash believed he would figure it out. Kanja was very smart. "You may be having trouble but I know you can figure it out. If nothing else we will keep using the snorkel." Surely the lake wasn't so deep that they would need tanks, right? "Just how deep is the lake?" He could not quite fathom how deep it would need to be to support bioluminescence during the daytime.

Dash could not help himself. He said, "Snorkel. Snor-kel. Snore-kul. Yeah it's fake," he laughed. But he was serious too. He wanted to help. "I thought it must be pretty deep if the fish glow. A snorkel isn't going to be enough. Maybe we need to figure out how to measure its depth, too."

"Pressure testing?" Dash's brow furrowed in concern. Kanja already had enough to worry about without the depth issue to add to it. "Don't worry. I'll figure something out." He knew the library was good for information beyond what he had been studying. He was certain he would find something better than, "measure out lengths of rope," to reach the lake bottom. "Kanja, I know this is your project but if you need any more help there are plenty of us who will be happy to."

Aren!? Aren was helping too? Besides his rank (that being obvious), wasn't he some kind of mysterious adult? Kanja never failed to surprise Dash. "I definitely would help, yes." It wasn't just because they were friends, and that's what friends do. He liked Kanja and to those he liked he wanted to help even more earnestly. It also helped that Dash was genuinely interested in what Kanja was doing. He did not understand everything that Kanja was manufacturing, but it would get him down to the bottom of the lake where his friend lived. Where the glowing fish lived, too. "Okay, just remember that the snorkel will help us help you more readily."

"Can I just say that you are amazing?" Dash was not sure what else he could say. From Aren to working out snorkels and tanks and oxygen... "I am not sure about the adults but you are probably faster than anyone our age," he confirmed. He thought about how they might measure the lake. Surely it wouldn't just be depth, but length and width as well. They would need something quite long. Not just rope, maybe something slender, lightweight, like a long cord? They could tie a weight to it when they were looking for depth. Then what he needed to do was find out how to make a cord! "I'm already thinking about this. I need to figure out how to make it."

"We do, don't we?" But like Kanja, he was excited to get to work. And the dragon boy's idea to compare notes next time was a great idea. It would keep them motivated and they could work through any obstacles together, if need be. "That's a great idea!"

"Oh... Yes, I do..." Dash? Amazing? What he was doing did sound like a lot, didn't it? He wasn't super smart like Kanja, or had a green thumb like Amy, and he was always so clumsy that sometimes he half-expected Argent to laugh as much as he was training him. But he was getting better at all those things, even if he was somewhat slow. He also wanted to get better at drawing the things he saw so he could show them to someone like Kanja when they couldn't be there in person to see them. He laughed and scratched his head. "Thank you."

"I guess... I'll get to work on that." He nodded. "When we meet again I will have something great to use for measuring."
