Our theme this year is "Pirates"... not necessarily of the Carribean though, thank goodness. Apparently one song is from that, and the others may be old timey pirate tunes. The PotC arrangements were all to easy for our band apparently.
We're finally attempting to get new costumes after seven years. Its not a definate, but we've been talking.
Jolly Roger flags are a possibility too. Rediculous black eye make-up, the whole shebang. I'm so excited =)

No fancy hair and make-up for us this year! We're not girly baseball players, all we're gonna wear is two black streaks on our cheeks and baseball caps! (hair in low ponytails/braids) And there's gonna be a BAT LINE! Yes, we are going to SPIN baseball bats. Hoo-yeah. Oh, and there's probably gonna be a toss where we turn the hats around between the release and the catch. Not sure on which piece of equipment, though.

WC's Outdoor Performing Ensemble (aka: Stupid name for the MB just because it's unconventional...) will be presenting Rising Up. They wanted to call it The Art of Change but I guess not. The music's all original and totally gay...but that's ok, because we're going to be on a massive tarp on field. Yay!
25-25, Front sideline to back hash mark...it's like dude. And the band has to learn to march by seams! Haha!

Eeh.... we had tarps my feshman fall year..... there was a VERY windy show and two people got rolled up in them..... Also, the band always tripped over them because of their big shoes.
Anyway, I don't know the actual title of the show, yet... not sure if it's been decided. I'll ask the band director, not my guard director, cause I'm pissed at her right now.....

Our show's concept is kind of hard to describe, but it is shaping up to be an amazing season! We have high musical quality, plus a BD guy is coming to be our visual director! And the guard gets some awesome crap to do this time around. ROCK IT.
I'll tell more later when I know.

We've started learning drill for the first song. We've got about 25 pages ut of 37 memorized. I wish I could type with enough sarcasm when I say how much I just LOVE doing the EXACT same thing I've been doing for the last 2 YEARS. YAY flagline. What an EXCITING new CHALLENGE this is for me. stressed I'm bored out of my mind!

Aw! Neko, you didn't make the rifle line? I'm sorry hun! *clings to*
I'm quite sure that I'm going to be doing rifle and sabre line this fall. And I believe there's a fair possibility that I am one of the top 15 in our guard that will be in the opening of the show. I'm one of two sophmores that can throw a 5 1/2, and only three seniors and maybe one junior and do that or a six on rifle, which is what I think out director is looking at.

The TC Marching Band's [my Guard and I won't say what TC stands for...because I'd hate to have a stalker] is doing Miss Saigon. We're doing only a few of the songs...and I heard it. It's lovely. I'm excited. I already like our work.

We've learned all the drill and work for our first movement, "Pastime". We've also learned all of the drill and some of the work for the 2nd movement, the theme from "The Natural". We're far ahead of where we were last year. Mainly because we have a new, better drill writer, and we actually have a work writer this year. Last year our guy ditched us. I never liked that guy, anyway. The guy we have working with us now is so much cooler. I stil hate my director, but I'm a little (only a little!) happier with her right now because, even though I won't spin any weapons this year, I will spin on the batline! Yay! - If you haven't been paying attention to my other posts, I mean baseball bats, because our show is about baseball -
"Are you crying?! There's no crying in baseball!"
