"They don't have answers unless the question is 'What is cute and furry and can go from 0 to demon with claws in .5 seconds?' and even then it's not an answer they have, they just happen to be the answer to it." He snorted, wishing he could do something to shake the no good, very bad feeling that was just lingering in the air around him.

"The cat didn't say anything about bringing that guy who was wearing all of that white along with it, did they?"

"Well, no. Definitely not all white knight, prince charming, but... If he was like us? Or-- Or if we're like that. You and I are walking around right now without causing a fuss." That did bring up another question, though... Did the the cat transform too? Was it a curse? Maybe it was something like the winged cat from Card Captors.

God, he was going to wind up with a headache...

"How much further until we get there?

He paused mid step, reaching out to lightly take Hartley by the arm. He tugged his friend back, letting him go only when he realized that he might have pulled him too close. "It's not--- It's not that I don't want to be going. It's not that this doesn't have the potential to be really cool and some sort of great adventure that you only ever read about, or play games about. It's..."

He drew in a deep breath, releasing it as a sigh as his hand came up to brush a strand of hair away from Hart's face. "I don't want anything to happen to you. You didn't come all this way here for school to be dragged into whatever weird as s**t has been happening here. You're not supposed to be in danger."

Aft's brow furrowed as he looked at his friend, wanting to stay stern and cross but unable to. He sighed, reaching up to lightly tug at a strand of Hart's hair. He didn't say what he was thinking. He didn't mention that something could always happen when he wasn't around. He didn't bring up the whole 'what if something happens to me' even though it was incredibly tempting to do so.

Instead of doing any of those things he sighed, giving his friend a gentle nudge. "C'mon. We don't want to keep the cat waiting."
