Zac closed his eyes and sighed, trying to get back to that part of himself that loved information. "What did he say?" He asked quietly, finally bringing his eyes back to his Guardian's. "What did he say that stuck out?" He tipped his head trying to make himself be calm.

Jeremiah still had his arm around Zac, not quite relinquishing his son from his hold. "Before I lost consciousness, before he left me, he said-" There was a breath because this was something that was extremely out of place with everything that was going on. "Perhaps next time I would listen to my father."

There is NO way..that is your Dad, there isn't...is there?" Zac could only stare with wide eyed and absolute consternation at that idea.

"My father is dead," Jeremiah said quietly, "as you'll remember I left to go to his funeral a few years back." Now he was twisting the strange bone ring on his pinky, the one that was cool even when he was actually warm. "However that does not mean at some point there was a connection between us." Blue-green eyes looked to his son. "He has, from the beginning, been far too familiar with me."

“Yes, but this is Ashdown, I wouldn’t put anything past it, n-not after Angler Spiders and Autumn possessing a house because a fey wanted her soul.” “M-maybe He, it… maybe our charcoaled friend is used to dealing with you in past iterations?”

"As I said he has been overly familiar with me since the first time I met him." Jeremiah ran a hand through his hair, looking at Zac out of the corner of his eye. "So there is no telling how many times he has dealt with me just that he has. "Anything is truly possible."

"I hate this, I hate so much not knowing, like, we have fragments and I know there are more pieces. But thinking that, that maybe if we had all the pieces we might know, but at the same time I... I think we wouldn't. We'd just have more information and be left wondering. It, it's perspective or something, if you know something, sometime's it's so confusing when other people don't understand it too. Does that make sense? I feel like this... town, expects us to know, and Sunny too... "

"It is that," he agreed. "I have knowledge of the pieces of our foe but I can't make sense of it. I know that they are but not what that entails, what it really means." Jeremiah looked down at this hands, at the small cat, Hellbine, that was nosing at them tentatively. "We are given so much information and without the proper viewpoint ..." He shook his head. "We do not look at it the right way."

“I know…” Zac said softly. “It’s…like when you get a teacher who knows the subject matter, and it comes to them easily. But.. that they are trying to teach it to us, and we’re a remedial class.” He shrugged again, looking down and away. He felt foolish and couldn’t think of a way to fix it. Maybe there wasn’t a way. “… I was, going to talk to you about that page. But… "

"Yes and now I've got knowledge in my head but no context for some of it." Jeremiah sighed, rubbing a hand across his forehead. There was a bone ring on his pinky, different than Algie's signet ring that he wore or the wedding band. "The one from the Shore estate? What about it? We haven't ... pursued it." He paused. "Have you yet?" There was worry there and a small hope that if Zac was going to, he would include Jeremiah (but it was not a necessity, just the worries of a man looking out for his son).

He sighed, mouth becoming a fine line and his eyes delivering a rather pointed stare. “No, no I haven’t tried to do something that might be monumentally risky on my own, not yet. If I’ve learned one thing from you, it’s that seizures and memory loss too often follow.” He punctuated the latter with a poke to the ribs. “I can’t promise, I won’t not make stupid choices, but on that front I’d feel wrong leaving you out.”

"I would assume you wouldn't go alone," Jeremiah sighed, "not that you wouldn't go looking." Then he wriggled slightly to the side at the poke to the ribs before he was squeezing the arm around Zac rather pointedly. He was not doing well but that didn't mean he couldn't still be obnoxiously fatherly if he needed to. "You don't have to feel guilty about it or wrong, you know, though ..." He huffed. "I have to agree that pieces of paper and other ashdown do seem to coincide with those things from personal experience. Yet it's tied to the artist and that is something I feel like we need to pursue more. I've often wondered if ..." The man trailed off for a moment, hand pressing to his head briefly when his head spun.

“If what?” He queried, the question more automatic than thoughtful. He cut short any other questions though as he gripped Jer’s shoulder, anxiety spiking as he watched the hand pressed to head. “Are you, Dad, are you alright?” He was alarmed to say the least still, and moments like this just caused spikes to further that anxiety. “I… I can call Autumn, maybe she could…” He stammered not sure what to say “I mean, I don’t know if she can do anything but she might…”

"Sorry, sometimes ..." Jeremiah shook his head, hand falling. "My head hurts and the world spins." It was a simple fact and a quiet admittance. He did not enjoy the state this knowledge had left him in, what it had done to him and how it he was now. "I don't want to do that to Autumn," he said quietly, "on the off chance some of this is experienced by her. It's bad enough I'm down for the count but her as well?" Jeremiah sighed and shifted, trying to push passed the discomfort he felt. "I have wondered about if we looked over there about the paintings, what we see. If those same portraits would still be faceless."

“I swear, I SWEAR If I could do what she does…” He doesn’t finish the thought, he doesn’t need to., because he is quite sure Jer knows how he would act if he had the power to heal, even if it caused him pain. He’d act no different than Autumn herself did… Heal those who need healing. He rubbed at his face and sighed. “I don’t now. Remember how it was with Autumn there? Like the house was…influenced by her? I don’t know if we would see the same place, or if we’d just see what we wanted to see, maybe even what it wanted us to see.” He rubbed at his chest, remembering moments he hadn’t particularly talked about. He wondered If Jer still had nightmares about being rotted, about seeing Alg…rotted.
