"What like you ain't fifty times worse with yer ********' camera?" Jack was hardly one to talk considering how many pictures he took. It wasn't said angrily though; Chel liked his pictures.
"C'mon beanstalk, make my castle." That was said with more bite in it.

"My castle, you mean." He scooped some water into the new hole and began, with little success, on a bridge over it. "I wasn't commissioned."

"S'it really still yers f'I move in?" As she spoke she sat down and began pushing sand around it; Jack was building a complex, elegant mound and Chel just wanted a big ugly mound.

"Yes, because I made most of it."
The key word there was made as a surprisingly quick and forceful wave splashed against them, taking out most of Jack's sandcastle and overflowing the moat. Such was the risk of being too close.
"Assuming you're not too busy being with your bon fires and boat loads of people to visit," he added, making a face at the wave. The whole endeavor made him oddly childish.

The pause was what made him realize that they were possibly no longer talking about a sandcastle; did being unaware make him innocent in asking, or just stupid?
At least they were starting to get somewhere with all this digging.
"Think this castle needs a guard dog," he said after a while.

"Yer ugly mug oughta do fine," she said, pivoting her torso to pick up a few sticks and stones off the shore. She then took these decorations and began sticking them haphazardly around the fortress.

Abruptly Jack got to his feet, knocking over part of his poorly constructed castle in the process. He still wore a grin as he backed up towards the water.
"You'll have to catch me first."
