He gave a small laugh, a littler nervous perhaps and shook his head. "No... no fire balls, though Jer, I mean... Detective Mercer, I've seen him ice things. I mean it was in that 'Other' Ashdown but, still, it was like... like a morning frost.

Detective Mercer - she'd heard the name, thought never spoken to the man. She chewed her bottom lip thoughtfully. "Like, can you or he teach me this stuff?"

"I... I think we can only do certain things on um, this side of things. But I think Detective Mercer can teach you to do some things in the Other side of things? I still need to get him to Teach me...but I think he'd be willing to teach more people." He offered a shy smile.

Temperance hummed thoughtfully. She wasn't fond of the idea of going up to some unknown person and demanding (or asking very nicely) they they teach her or something. Perhaps video game super powers were beyond her for now. I was a shame, really. After a moment she shrugged. "I guess. Oh, though, did I tell you I met a thing. And your face was on it!"

"Ah, so you know it? It was kind of a... goopy owl, yes." The alternative version of Ashdown was just so odd. Surprisingly, it didn't phase her much - enough so that she wondered about herself. She leaned against the counter, thumbs hooking into the pockets of her sweater. "So..." Temperance debated asking this; there was probably some persona reason behind it all, but she was so curious. "Why was your face on an owl who loves Christmas?"

"Um... wait, it like's Christmas?" He asked blinking in surprise. "What did it say?" That was honestly not what he expected to hear from anyone. "Um, the face is kinda a long story." He said with a hint of a smile. "Um...did I warn you yet about making deals with anything in Other Ashdown"

Temperance almost laughed at how the Christmas comment was the first thing Zac latched onto. "That it wanted to know what Christmas was. And I kind of... promised it I would bring it Christmas?" Temperance wondered if that counted as a deal. "Was... the deal worth it?"

Uncertainty flickered through his eyes, he stared at her for a long moment, or stared rather in her direction but his gaze was inward, remembering, and looking forward. "...I don't know." He answered after a long moment. "... I'd like to hope so... but I don't know." He tried to smile then, but there was something to his eyes that told more of a truth, even though hew was amazed at this...fascination with Christmas. He'd traded away part of himself, something that seemed inconsequential, but honestly...he had a feeling he might yet regret it. "So... do you need help preparing crhistmas for a 'goopy owl?'

Temperance opened her mouth to prob more, then stopped, deciding she neither knew Zac well enough nor was entirely sure she wanted to know all the details. She figured the deal must have sounded lucrative, though. For a few moments, she wondered what sort of thing might entice her. It was a mystery, and everything sounded different in the heat of the moment. At his question, she looked up, startled that he'd offer. "W-well, if you're on good terms with them... They seemed nice, so I'd like to. I was going to set up a small Christmas tree and wrap some presents and.." She trailed off, frowning. "Do goopy creatures eat Christmas cookies?"

“…I uh.” Zac blinked, pondering the question. “…I really don’t have a good answer for that. I mean, I guess we can find out? Maybe they’d find them interesting or pretty or something?” He said looking hopeful. “I, I think it’s cool though.” He said with a smile. “I’ll definitely help alright?”

She lit up with pleasure, losing some of her natural anxiety. "Yes! Christmas cookies, too, maybe." Temperance appeared lost in thought for a moment, but then shook her head. "Let's go!"
