Nick quickly grabbed his knife and grabbed Marcus's hand to stand back up. He looks over at the woman and her child who are still both glued to the corner of the restaurant. "They are helpless" Nick thought.
"Marcus lets get back and check on the guy, barricade the door so this one *Nick points at the staggering infected* can't get in with us."
Nick and Marcus run back into the room only to discover the bitten employee had collapsed out of his chair to the floor. Nick ran over to the man and tried to help but it was too late...
"Marcus I think... I think he's dead man..." Nick looked in horror at the corpse of the man who not long ago was making him a sandwich just like any other day.
"Marcus what is going on?"
Nick wasn't able to take all of this in at once. They needed to get back to the apartment and take a breather.

Marcus agreed with Nick; they had to get out of that place. "Let's go through the back, I don't wanna risk seeing what's in front of the store!" He and Nick ran to the back door, ready to leave. Marcus turned around after he heard moaning. The man that just collapsed, that they thought was dead, started moving around in an attempt to get back up. "Wait man we can't leave that lady and her kid in here with this guy, we gotta do something!" *Action roll - 3* Marcus charged the man and managed to stab him in the back. He expected him to drop, but instead he got up to his feet. "Nick, help me out here! He should be down, what's going on!" Marcus started to back away, unsure on what to do without his knife.

Nick stared at the blood that was dripping from the risen mans back wound.
"What the ********!?" The man reached his hands out toward Nick, his eyes bloodshot and mouth hanging open while he moaned loudly. Nick raised his knife and charged the man. *Attack roll - 6* Nick jammed his knife right into the forehead of the man and let go watching the man fall limp to the ground with his knife lodged deep in his skull.
Nick backed up and looked at Marcus.
"Self defense right?" He asked.

"Yeah man, just self defense. Let's get out of here!" Marcus picked up his knife and started towards the door again, this time they actually made it out. He was relieved when he looked into the alley and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. "Let's head back to the apartment, hopefully we don't run into anyone on the way. And let's try to get there quick man, we shouldn't be out here too long right now." Marcus tightened his backpack's straps so it wouldn't bounce around and started running in the direction of Nick's apartment. Once at the end of the alley, they were on the same road as the apartment which was located right above a shop. However, there were a few other people on the road. It was hard to tell if they were friendly or changed like the employees in Jimmy John's.

Marcus pointed out the three people that were in the street blocking our way to get to the apartment as well as a full street of abandoned cars in our way. There were no alternate routes unless we wanted to risk being out in the open longer. Nick keeping his eyes fixated on the three people asked Marcus "What do you think? Take our chances jumping over these cars to get to the other side or go all the way around until we find an opening?"

Marcus turned to Nick. "Let's go through these cars, hopefully those people up there are alright and if not, we can take them." Marcus was far from sure if they would be able to take on three of those people, especially after considering what just happened in the restaurant. Marcus began moving quickly between cars but met a wall of them with seemingly no way around. He backed up to gain momentum and sped forward. *Action Roll - 3* He managed to get over the car, but not without making a decent amount of noise. He was hoping they could get back to the apartment without drawing any attention to themselves but they were already struggling with that. Marcus managed to draw the attention of the three people ahead of them. He turned to Nick. "I really hope they're friendly man."

The 3 people turned around and being uncomfortably close to Nick and Marc Nick could see that they had the same look on their face as the Jimmy John's employee. Nick looked a bit harder and saw that they had blood all over their clothes and gaping neck and arm wounds. Nick ran over to where Marcus was and grabbed his sleeve to jump over the car wall and pull him to the other side. *Acrobat roll - 4* Nick managed to get on top and then over the car and pulled Marcus up and over with him causing an incredible amount of noise making the three infected move faster as well as alerting more around the corner on the side that they just crossed to. They quickly made it over to the door of the apartment lobby but it was locked. "I guess they know what's going on out here. We have to get to the fire escape my apartment is connected to it!" Nick pointed over more down the road and they both ran over to it. The ladder was connected to a wire and weights which held it up. "Marcus you're going to have to boost me up and then I'll pull you up!"

"Yeah yeah sure man." Marcus squatted down to help give Nick a boost up. "Let's be quick about this man I don't want them to catch up." Marcus turned his head to see the people make their way over at a slow pace, but it was still fast enough for them to be concerned. Marcus got Nick up and extended his hand to him. "Help me out man!"

Nick grabbed the railing to help pull the weight and then reached down with his other hand grabbing Marcus's hand and began to pull him up. *Strength roll - 1* He tried lifting Marcus up but his hand slipped due to it being smothered in blood from killing the infected earlier.
"Marcus you're going to have to find a way to boost yourself! Look around see if you can find anything to stand on." Nick wiped off his hands on his pants leaving a large blood stain on them while Marcus looked around.

"Son of a b***h," Marcus mumbled. He looked to his left to see a *Search roll - 3* dumpster. *Strength roll - 6* fortunately he managed to push it close to the fire escape and used it to climb up. "Hopefully they can't get up this thing." He started making his way up to the apartment with Nick but turned back when her heard someone at the dumpster. They just walked into it. All of them. "Looks like they're stuck down there. We should be alright now. Let's get inside.

Nick opened the window to his apartment and they both climbed through. When inside he closed it again and locked it just to be safe. Nick rushed over to his T.V and turned it to the news.
"Reports of civil unrest in the city of Triton as well as all across the country. A new found virus has swept the nation as it infects it's host which leads to death and inevitably brings them back from the dead. These risen infected then attack and bite the living further spreading the virus. These infected individuals are extremely dangerous and it is recommended to stay in your homes and lock the doors. Authorities and military personnel are being deployed to regain and maintain order in the streets."
"Marcus look around and see if you can find anything useful."
Nick looked around his apartment as well. *Search roll - 6* Nick always kept a baseball bat at the side of his bed as self defense. He picked it up and gasped it firmly. "This'll do." Before he left he grabbed his pocket knife as well sitting in his top drawer of his desk and put it in his pocket.

Marcus was blown away by what he heard on the news. While Nick was searching for something to use, he said to him, "What're we supposed to do now man?" Marcus began looking around as well. He'd been in the apartment many times so he was sure he knew where he would be able to find something. He remembered that he recently had to help Nick fix a pipe in his bathroom. He looked behind the toilet and found a *Search roll - 6* pipe wrench. It was about seven pounds and made from iron, so he was certainly sure that it would be able to do some damage if he needed it to. He tucked it into the side of his backpack for easy accessibility. Marc walked out of the bathroom and said to Nick, "What else can we get in this place?"

Nick took a second to collect himself and sat on his bed before he heard Marcus asked what else we could use. Nick figured it would be a good idea to grab some water for the both of them *Search roll - 4* Nick checked his fridge but they only had one bottle left.
"Here Marcus take this we'll find more water later. I hope..." Nick handed Marcus the water bottle and looked out the window. He saw chaos on the street that they had just left. People were also getting stuck in the wall of cars with no where to escape. He saw two people get grabbed and thrown to the ground by a few infected.
"Jesus Christ... Marcus should we go to the roof and see if there are any choppers? Maybe they could help us?"

Marcus put the bottle in his backpack. "Yeah hopefully we'll find something soon. We might have to go store to store to try to find some things." Marcus continued to look around. He figured he might have been able to find something under the sink. *Search roll - 6* He opened the door and found a first aid kit. It hadn't even been used yet. He slid it into his backpack. "Yeah let's run upstairs, hopefully we can find something." Marcus walked towards the door, hoping there wouldn't be anything on the other side to greet him. He grabbed his wrench from his bag and gripped it tight as he opened the door.
