TOPOLOGICAL ANALYSIS PENDING... COMPLETE. CELL STRUCTURE MAPPED, SAVED TO MEMORY. SECONDARY STRUCTURE MAPPED, SAVED TO MEMORY. WARNING. DUE TO MAGICAL INTERFERANCE, SECONDARY STRUCTURE MAP IS CORRUPT. LAYOUT INCOMPLETE. If he'd had eyes, Clockson would have been eyeing Nasra... Mainly because she was the only living thing that he could perceive visually at present.
"Why should we do any such thing? More importantly, how does doing that benefit us?" Synthetic or organic, the A.I. held certain principles as near-doctrine. For one, professionals were compensated for their time. For another, every action held an equal and opposite reaction. The rest was mainly mathematics and religious doctrine, the latter of which had been deleted long ago.

"It is not for satisfaction.. But a lesson. I am a god. And you do not screw with a god."
"The answer is simple." The Announcer said. "It is for your survival. If you need a reason maybe I can get a reward for whoever wins.. But damnit I am not having another group go idle on me!"
Nasra laughed, slightly. "Looks like he's having trouble.." She said weakly.

'... If it so befits you to do so,' Solkax sighed to Death. One would think that a terrible idea, but after living with him, it had becomes normal for Solkax. 'Say, does anyone have anything interesting to talk about, seeing as we're in this prison?' he asked, opting to ignore the announcer of this... thing, due to his troubles. Better not to add to them, no? ... He was messing about with the poor elemental. Or other humanoid creature.

CURRENT CONTRACT OUT OF REACH. PROBABILITY OF EXTRACTION NEGLIGIBLE. NEW CONTRACT ACCEPTABLE, PENDING TERMS. TEMPORARY F SIGNATURE ASSIGNED TO SURROUNDING SENTIENTS. The sniper was used to irrational orders, so long as he was compensated for them. Erratic employers were of no moment; near-every organic was erratic, from his perspective.
"'May-be' isn't good enough. I don't work without compensation. If you want to retain my services, then we strike up a contract." The others were of little concern just now, at least to the A.I. He was acting on the principals that he'd coded himself, even if slightly irrational. Clockson's own death was barely of concern. It was near-always a possibility that his important parts would be salvaged, and he would 'live' again.

"Fine. There will be compensation. If you win. Find a glass orb, and smash it! It will be filled with fire!"
"Talking's pointless." Nasra said, sadly, after he finished talking. "He's setting us in this world.. And if it's anything like the last one.." She closed her eyes, and tears fell, as she pushed herself deeper into a ball. "We won't last long."
"She's scarred. You can hear it."

'Sounds like there's a similar iteration of this scenario to me,' Solkax muttered, noting Death's word but not replying. '... Define what the compensation will be for each of us, if you would please.'

For a moment, his voice changed. The relaxed, organic tones were switched with a cold, precise enunciation of what was on offer. "Undefined compensation, to be bestowed after completion of the assigned tasks or during an undefined set of circumstances as well as undefined tempor-spacial location in which it is to be rendered. Further, the full set of circumstances/requirements has not been outlined. This is an unsatisfactory contract. Updates are required."
"Not quite right, Nasra. Talking communicates ideas. And new perspectives always make things just a bit more workable. Why pick us up if we aren't valuable, after all?" Just like that, Clockson was a relaxed mercenary again. The speech patterns were mainly to put organics at ease, anyhow.

"What compensation you get depends on your performance. If you do well enough I might even give you my ship, how 'bout that, hm? Yes, the ship you're in! Hmph." "The entire ship?" Nasra said, in awe. "..That doesn't sound realistic.. Could he possibly serious about that?"

'Honestly, I wouldn't put it past him offering,' Solkax sighed. Mind you, only an offer. Also mind you, a ship could just be his ticket for escape, or at the very least his reward could be an alternate planet to live on. 'If we are deciding on a course of action, I am willing to commit. As long as our compensation is worth it, in any case...'

This insufficient response sent negative feedback along the sniper's circuitry. It didn't meet any but one of his programmed priorities. His own self-preservation and that of his squad ticked off, but the lack of the others was displeasing. In shorthand, he was unhappy. "...Fine. I'll play along with your crap contract for now. You wouldn't bring three formidable people into a team just to break a ball. Who do you want us to kill?"
He wasn't particularly interested in a reward, actually. He'd only asked because professionals get paid for their work. It was a principal by which Clockson 'lived his life'. And if anyone can appreciate principals taken too far, it is an A.I. Something had to balance out the lives he took.

"Finally. The Announcer said. "Now, as for who to kill.. That depends. Your goal is to smash a glass ball with fire inside. Who you kill, and who you don't.. Eh, I could care less, really. Now go, and find it!"
"..He just throws a bunch of random crap at you, until you break it.." Nasra said.
"Sounds annoying."

'I concur,' Slokax agreed with Death for once. Despite being a voice, he was certainly a realist when needed to be. That, and no creature with sentience would want to do this repeatedly.
