My wife used to work the Suicide Hotline when she lived in Philadelphia. (before we married) They even gave her an award that hangs on our wall. She said it was a great experience helping people. So, I'm putting it out here, in addition to the hotline being used as a resource, those who may be inclined to help can contact the organisation to volunteer and be that resource. 3nodding

I'm not sure if anyone has posted anything close to a more international list (and I'm so much of a lazy-butt to check, sorry), but Life is Strange complied a list of suicide hotlines worldwide: http://lifeisstrange.com/talk/

Hello.. September of 2018 there will be a week for Suicide Prevention week. Winter's are hard for some people. Here it is the highest suicide rate in the US. You would think they would do more for it or take a more serious look. We have the hotline. But to be #1 in the nation is bad. And since it has affected my life and Daffodil's I want us to help people as much as we can. Who know's someone in our guild might consider doing that and I might not want to do that unless in severe pain. I do understand what it does to the people left behind.

How to help someone who might consider suicide? They will not call a number and have tried to commit suicide before. They are not in the same place mentally when they did it before but are talking to me about it. Advice.

angelic snow angel Pink Fregia I received word this morning that my nephew committed suicide during the night. He was 30. I am sorry to hear that and I am sorry for the loss of your nephew. It is so sad cry Were you close? How are your kids handling it? Thank you. We only met a few times. Our families live in different states. We kept in touch mostly on FB. I've been in more contact with his mother through the yrs. They're handling it well, my 2nd daughter is the most affected by it, but she's doing ok. We talked this morning.

Losing someone to suicide is the most agonizing heartache. The grief is extremely overwhelming. I think it's because we didn't get to say "goodbye" and we torture ourselves with all the thoughts of the "what ifs" and "if only" and we are left with so many questions unanswered - so many things we still had left to say and do together emotion_heartbroken We are left feeling somewhat guilty with all the thoughts that come to our minds.
A few years ago, two of my friends lost their son to suicide. His depression was known. It was a fight that lasted years and years and years. After so many suicidal attempts throughout his life, the help he had gotten and all the loving support he had around him, his depression finally won. So much heartache left behind and his family torn apart crying
Over this last weekend, we lost a family friend of nearly 29 years. She was besties with my daughter since kindergarten - they were practically sisters. Nobody saw this coming!! She was a feisty and funny girl. Blunt and honest. Admired for her simply for being herself. She was a nurse, helping others. She was a mother of a 4 year old boy. She was loved and a very loving and giving person. We know she had a few struggles with some health issues and undergoing tests, but she seemed fine mentally. We literally had no idea she was battling something much deeper. Darker. So much hidden behind her smiles and laughter. Our hearts are truly broken. She had so many more happy and healthy years ahead of her. We will never know "WHY" she did what she did crying

I have a friend who is bubbly for other people who will tel me she thinks of shooting herself often. She has admitted to me she is not happy but wants other people to be happy. She is fine right now just doing some seriously erratic things. I am very sorry for the loss. cry

Being left with "what ifs" and "if only" can often bring us to the brink of madness. Especially when we are trying to sort out the "why" when tragedy strikes or in this case, creeps in silently. We are left with so many blank spaces of emptiness. It's only human nature to want to know the answers to our deepest thoughts and questions, but sometimes there are none to find. In the wake of all the turmoil, all we can really do is celebrate the life of the person we lost. Share with everyone possible, the love that we felt for them and speak of them often. This truly phenomenal young woman you and your family lost will be kept close to your hearts by sharing precious memories that have been tucked away. It sounds as though her little boy is going to need all of you to help him make it through this, even though it doesn't make any kind of sense. My heart goes out to you and your family. heart

Thank you angel & pookynators mom for your kindness heart Your words meant so much!! My daughter is not doing well and I wish I could mend her broken heart. They were soooooo close. I call her every day, even before this. We cry together on the phone now and I just don't have the right words to stop her tears from drowning her, ya know? My s-i-l took yesterday and today off work to be with her and I'll be visiting her tomorrow and baking a homemade lasagna for her family. I know she's not up to taking care of the kids and cooking. A part of her has died along with her bff.
The truth is, everyone has some sort of depression. Every one. So tell your friends and loved ones how much they mean to you and squeeze them tight when you see them. Check up on them. We are all fighting a battle unseen. And when you're down, phone a friend.
I wish you all love & laughter heart
