I joined right after the re-opening. But when you depict the fire that burned it down, add me on a ship with my friend Ardbob, and show me look out to the sea and see smoke rising. razz

No that was someone else, though who it was is currently slipping my mind. I joined like the week after the fire. When Dr. Morgan first stepped onto the Isle de Provoka, it was a ruined wasteland, with only the Caves and the Art Gallery still standing.

LOL! NO! I mean... remember the fire that burned down the town and it was an excuse for the guild being shut down. Well, you should write from the very opening of Provoka, before the fire, so when the fire happens, show me in a ship. I am just sailing by the island as a coincidence.

Dr. Morgan was born Robert Henry MacIan, son of Joseph Lloyd MacIan, who was at the time the Governer of Massachusets and a man of Scottish descent. He was born at sea, and his mother's identity remained a mystery to him until some years later. As a boy, he met up with a cat that a friend convinced him to name Bearsnack, and they became liflong friends, one rarely leaving the other's side.
His father was a kind man, and though he was ashamed of his b*****d son, he proved to be the only heir and was thus given a proper education and a fine field of careers. However, the man he was first apprenticed to, at the tender age of 11, was a horrible man, often on the drink and rarely in a good mood. Robert ran away within a year, and went to sea as a cabin boy aboard the HMS Dagger.
It would appear that being born at sea gives one an advantage as a sailor, for young Robert advanced quickly through the ranks. By the time he jumped ship in London, he was an Able Seaman and respected by the crew and officers alike. However, he could no longer stand the Captain he served under, a man by the name of John York.
Once in London, he quickly realised that he witout a job in one of the meanest cities on Earth. After a little searching around, he discovered that his father had lamentably passed on, leavi ng his fortunes to his son, should he ever be found. He managed to get his inheritance, and with a part of it took the opportunity to learn medicine, a field which had long attracted him.
Three years later, he went to sea once more, this time to serve as a docter in the royal armed forces. He saw action many times, in some truly grueling situations. This service simply reinforced his beleif that he had mad a good choice of career.
After a few years, however, he longed once more for the sea, and after leaving the military, once again through unapproved of methods, he traveled the world. Dr. MacIan visited such places as Greece, Italy, Egypt, and even went on a failed expedition to discover the lost city of gold. Along the way he collected various articles of weaponry, including the sword he now bears.
On the return voyage to England from his stay in the captital of New Spain, Havana, his ship was a victim of mutiny. As he was held in some regard by nearly everyone on board, he was spared and set ashore with all his possesions on a semi-populated island. Ironically, the ship went into a hurricane and was never heard from again.
The isle he had been abandoned on was, as far as he could tell, barren. It took him a few days to find the city, and when he did, he was dazzled. He had been set ashore on the island of Tortuga, center of the Buccaneer's trade. The next few years were spent serving as a doctor, and it was here he developed an affinity for piracy. His accent, long since changed by his travels, now took on a bizzare twist all of it's own.
He began to wonder about his mother at this time, as his father had always been vary vaugue when questioned about it. He suspected he had some Indian blood, as he had always been darker skinned than his schoolfellows. With a good deal of searching around, he discovered that his mother had been a Carib, a tribe common in the area. He set out to search for the island on which he beleived her to be.
Some days out on the voyage, he spied a collumn of smoke. He abandoned the pursuit of his past and pulled into harbor. When he stepped onto the ruined shores of the Isle de Provoka, the ashes were still warm, and the air was thick with a heavy pall of smoke.

Bouldersan, I am honestly blown away at the extent of your RP History. Well done.
I'll do what I can to give you a step by step account of my involvment. But as an overview, I actually appointed a Temporary Captain for the Lady while I was away helping build Provoka. That should say something... if you know my true commitment to my ship. I normally kill anyone who even so much as says her name wrong, so placing someone else in charge was a large step for me.

Merlin was one of the first people in Provoka (I think he even made posts before a great deal of the Captains, though we had had meetings before)
Ah... old Provoka. Good times. But now is good times as well.

I'm waiting for this bloody voyage to end. It's fun and all but I want to get back to the rest of the guild, I thought we were only going to be gone 3 or 4 weeks.
We ought to announce that the voyage is "over" soon to the guild so we can rightly participate, then continue to voyage in the thread (our excuse can be we're telling the story)
