"Tuli!!" he shouted and rushed, jumping from the tree trunk to wrap his arms around the woman before he turned in the air to land on his back rather than have the princess be hurt from the force of the fall. when they landed, he grunted in pain and curled up for a moment before looking down at tuli "are you hurt princess?"

Tuli gasped and held onto him. When they fell she panted a bit and looked at him, "Saresh!" She got up off of him, "I'm fine but are you alright? I didn't mean for you to get hurt." She said tearing up a bit. "I'm sorry.... I..."

he looked up at her and shook his head as he quickly got up to brush himself off "please don't cry your highness." he smiled and rubbed her hair back gently "I'm alright. and I'm glad to know that you're perfectly fine, but please don't try sneaking out that way again? I wont always be here to catch you if you try" he chuckled, but his smile faded as the other servants rushed out "princess! what happened? we heard a ruckus!"

Tuli looked up at him and nodded. She stopped crying and wiped her face when the other servants came out, "I'm fine. I just tripped a bit." She said and went to the dinning hall to have dinner.

saresh watched her walk away with the other servants trying to fawn over her, making sure tuli was straightened out and clean before meeting her father. the guard looked down and rubbed his ribs before heading back inside to wait at her bedroom door, as he had always done this past ten years

Tuli finished dinner and went to her room. Seeing Saresh there she looked him over, "You need to go to the doctors. I can tell you're in pain." She said softly, "I won't try to escape tonight. I promise." She said going into her room.

"I'm fine princess. a guard fights through pain to protect his charges" he said, reciting his lessons as a guard and trying to stand as straight as he could to guard the door, but his ears flattened feeling the dull ache in his side as he took another deep breath to stay focused

Tuli looked back at him and glared a bit, "Go to the doctor. Its an order." She said knowing he was hurt because of her. "Please... I'll be fine." She said, "Send Garnal in to watch me if you are scared." She said softly.

Saresh blinked and looked back at her before he sighed, glancing around at the halls then walking over to hold onto her shoulder "and i'll be fine too. you know that it takes a lot more than a bruised rib to stop me, princess. so I don't want you to worry about me" he said and led her away to settle back into bed "get some rest. you're going to need it for the big ball tomorrow" he smiled "a princess's birthday is going to attract a lot of attention" he said and nudged her arm

Tuli nodded and laid down in bed. The next day came and Tuli was in her bedroom the maids getting her dressed. They pulled on her corset and she cried out, "I told you! I can't get anymore skinny!!" She yelled. The maids ignored her, "Your father said you need to look your best. You choose a husband tonight." Tuli cried out again.

Saresh walked inside, fully dressed in a suit; hair down but a collar on his neck to show the markings of the king's guard; and groaned before giving a loud growl to get the maid's attention, walking over to take the strings in hand "i can take it from here ladies. I'm sure you all have other business to attend to for the party" he nodded and turned around to begin loosening the corset enough for tuli to breathe

Tuli watched the ladies leave and she gasped and panted when it was loosened. "Thank you..." She said putting a hand on her chest, "I've dreaded this day for years." She said softly getting a bit sad.

"why would you? this is your chance to find a husband, find someone to love and rule like you were being taught to. it's also a chance for you to actually escape me" he chuckled but his tone had a bit of sadness and disappointment in it as he tied off the corset and picked up her dress to tie it in the back "besides, it's at least your choice on who you decide to marry. not your father's or sister's"

Tuli let him fix her dress, "Yes.... my choice.... I have to marry a royal..." She said softly. She wouldn't admit she had dreams of marrying the man she really loved. But she knew could never happen. When she was ready she smiled a bit, "I'm ready to go out."

Saresh stood up and watched tuli, his eyes softening as he admired her dress and the smile she carried before his ears flattened down and he bowed in front of her "then lead the way your highness. I'll be right behind you the entire way" he said and closed his eyes to wait for her orders. but it was also his way of keeping himself calm. from wanting to just sweep her off her feet like he always imagined he would if he had the courage to. this was the one woman he could never touch or have in his life.
